Henryetta’s Serenity Rex – Softball Spotlight – Presented by Bravado Wireless

Some athletes prepare for big games with headphones in and a playlist blasting, but for Serenity Rex, the music choice says it all. “I’m a big Kevin Gates fan,” she said. “My go-to hype song is ‘I Don’t Get Tired’ by Kevin Gates.”

That mindset of energy and determination shows up every time she puts on a Henryetta uniform. “My goal this season is to grow as a leader by setting a positive example on and off the field,” Rex said. “I want to be someone my teammates can count on, whether that’s through encouraging them, giving full effort every day, or keeping our energy up in tough moments.”

The senior has noticed a big shift in the Lady Knights this year. “The biggest improvement I’ve seen from the team this year is in our attitudes and commitment,” she explained. “Everyone is more bought in, more supportive, and more determined.”

Her role on the team is vital both offensively and defensively. “I play everywhere; right now, I’m a catcher,” Rex said. “I’m very good at hitting a ball in the gaps. Or if the infield is playing up, I will hit a hard ground ball.”

Confidence is at the core of her approach. “When I step on the field offensively, my mindset is fierce,” she said. “I go into every at-bat believing I’m going to get a hit. Defensively, I carry that same mindset. I have full confidence in myself and my teammates.”

For Rex, softball is about more than numbers on a stat sheet. “I want my legacy to be more than just the homeruns I’ve hit,” she said. “I want to be remembered as someone who gave everything for this program — through leadership, confidence, and love for my teammates.”

Her favorite memory in a Henryetta uniform proves just how much she values heart over results. “My favorite memory was my freshman year at Keifer when we came so close to going to state,” Rex said. “Even in the loss, we cheered for each other, played together, and never gave up.”
