Beggs High School senior Morgan Parten is a member of the varsity cheer team and the FFA program at BHS.
Parten was introduced to FFA when she was around 10 years old, so when she became an eighth-grade student, she made the decision to join the FFA chapter.
“I had always heard that the Beggs Ag teachers were really welcoming and quite funny, my best friend Kalen Groves introduced me to the classes,” said Parten.
While Parten may not show livestock, there are plenty of activities she is involved in with the chapter.
“I cattle grade, livestock judge and travel to most of the events and help when it’s needed. I do not show, all my close friends show, and I love to help and learn,” said Parten.
FFA has been a great place for Parten to learn new skills.
“My most favorite part about FFA is the skills I have learned and earned. I don’t think I would be near as respectful and knowledgeable as I am today without FFA,” said Parten.
Outside of FFA, Parten is a member of student council and serves as a class officer. As a member of the cheer team, Parten is a main base and said she has built some great friendships in cheer.
“Cheerleading really pulls at my nerves, but I honestly wouldn’t change it for the world. I have made some of the strongest friendships in cheer,” Parten said. “My favorite memory as a cheerleader is most definitely, remembering when I decide to get out of my comfort zone and tryout. I had all these doubts and feelings, only to make it. It was one of the happiest moments in my life.”
Parten said she is looking forward to life after high school and is making plans for her future.
“After I graduated, I plan to further my education at OSU or NSU majoring in either business or radiology and became Ultrasound Technician.”
The senior offers this advice to anyone interested in FFA.
“If I was to give any advice about joining FFA, it’s going to be, just do it. Step out of that comfort zone, explore your surroundings and options, and make those friendships even stronger.”
