Coach: Matt Ross
11-1
OFFENSE
After winning the school’s second state championship last year, Dewar returns to the field with the same expectations in 2025. While only three starters return, the VYPE Top 100 trio are definite game changers paced by 3-year starting quarterback Peyton Kilhoffer (6-4, 220, Jr.) who packaged 2300-plus yards to combine for 40 touchdowns while Braelin Lewis (5-11, 195, Sr.) who scampered for more than 1000 yards rushing to score 20 times returns to the running back position. Joseph Moore (6-3, 200, Jr.) made 30 catches a year ago turning those into a 20-plus yards per catch average and 10 trips to the end zone. Adding big play potential to the Dragons air attack will be Bentley Thrall (6-0, 150, So.) and JoJo Waters (5-10, 160, Sr.). “Our skill players can convert quick routes into big plays that often results in six points,” said the Dragons new head coach Matt Ross, who served as the defensive coordinator in previous years. “We try to be balanced but we will continue to build our offense around the ground game.”
DEFENSE
If it’s not broke don’t fix it…the phrase rings a loud bell of success for the Dragons defensive efforts to be strong and physical with four returning starters. “Our goal is to be sound in our run game fits, create turnovers and get constant pressure on the opposing quarterback,” said Ross, who enters his fifth season at Dewar. The havoc created by Joseph Moore, who totaled 80-plus tackles while grabbing six interceptions will join linebackers M.J. Furch (5-11, 230, Sr.) and Tradyn Doty (5-11, 175, Jr.), who each recorded 60-plus stops while forcing multiple turnovers. Two year starter Clark Hotema (6-2, 185, Jr.) who made 17 quarterback sacks last season will once again secure the Dragons physical efforts on the defensive line. “We lost a very talented group of players to graduation; however I’m confident in the solid nucleus of our returning players that will allow us to continue to build on the foundation of winning football at Dewar,” said Ross.
Dragon fans will have to travel in mass along with this year’s team as Dewar will play six games on the road including the first two encounters of the season.
