Beggs Golden Demons Football Preview – Presented by Mabrey Bank

BEGGS GOLDEN DEMONS

Coach: TYLER BLIZZARD

4-6

OFFENSE

After a decade of posting winning records including back-to-back state finals appearances, coach David Tenison retired as the Golden Demons hit a speed bump in that winning streak last year in somewhat of a rebuilding season. Tyler Blizzard takes over the coaching reigns this season and will have some holes left by talented running back Red Marteland a senior line in front of him. But there is a solid nucleus returning for the Golden Demons which Blizzard looks forward to. “We’re very talented with a large returning contingent and our seniors are buying into the new coaching staff and working hard,” said Blizzard. While Beggs will miss the running of Martel, they do return key skill players in quarterback Billy Ramsey (6-0, 180, Sr.) who passed for 1,768 yards and 17 touchdowns last year and wide receiver prospect Ryan Grayson who had 1,000 yards receiving in 2023 and holds offers from K-State, Arkansas, UNLV, and Kansas. Grayson will be joined at receiver by wide out Jordan Wesley (5-9, 160, Jr.) and tight end Carson Cooper (6-2, 180, Jr.). Sophomore Jason Nethon (5-11, 180) whose dad was a standout at OSU, will take on Martel’s role at running back and senior Elijah Johnson is a talent who will find a place somewhere in the Beggs up-tempo offense. The Golden Demons will be looking for linemen to fill the graduation losses of three seniors.

DEFENSE

The new coach will maintain the 4-2-5 defensive look of his predecessor but will need to find some help on that side of the ball. Grayson, who had six interceptions last season will return at defensive back while Cooper who had 60 tackles in just five games last year and Johnson, who had 104 tackles, will man the linebacking spots once again along with Nethon and some possible help from Cody Wells, one of those guys that shows up and does his job every day and always has a great attitude according to Blizzard. The coaching staff for the Golden Demons under the new head coach will feature David Shannon, Jesse Pannell, Andre Barnett, Jason Sport, and Robert King. Beggs will face an almost totally new schedule this year but does have the benefit of hosting four of its first five games.
