2026 Wetumka Chieftains Football Preview – Presented by Mabrey Bank

WETUMKA CHIEFTAINS
Coach: DEVON REID
5-6

Wetumka returns a junior-heavy roster in 2026 after a 5-6 season and is aiming for a deeper postseason run under sixth-year head coach Devon Reid. Reid said the team brings back several two-way starters and multiple players with significant experience, giving the program a foundation of continuity and leadership. With that core and another year in the system, the Chieftains believe they can make a push in Class B.

Offensively, Wetumka returns five starters and will again operate from Pro/Twins sets, relying on its offensive line to pave the way for a pair of physical, explosive running backs before looking to get the ball to its athletes through the air when defenses load the box. Senior running back Dwayne Lowe (5-10, 200), a VYPE Top 100 nominee and three-year starter, leads the way after rushing 145 times for 1,300 yards and 21 touchdowns in nine games last season. Junior quarterback Will Lewis (6-0, 150) adds dual-threat capability after totaling 600 rushing yards, 1,200 passing yards and 16 touchdowns, while senior receiver Chayden Flanagan (6-0, 160) is an explosive playmaker who also contributes on special teams. Junior center Evan Moppin (5-10, 250) anchors the offensive line.

Defensively, Wetumka brings back five starters and will base out of a 3-2 gap scheme with an emphasis on discipline, disruption and swarming the ball. Linebackers Noah Lee (6-0, 185) and Bradyn Young (6-1, 170), defensive end Dallys Ingle (5-11, 200) and nose guard Spencer Heneha (5-10, 260) form a physical front, while defensive backs Dario Silla and Levi Maas provide experience in the secondary. With Lowe providing leadership, Lewis’ versatility and a deep junior class returning, Reid believes the Chieftains have the pieces to make the postseason run they expect.
