Henryetta enters the 2026 season with confidence after posting its fourth straight winning campaign under head coach Kevin Adler. The Knights move up to Class 2A-1 following a 6-4 season and believe they have the experience to compete immediately. Adler’s staff points to five returning offensive starters and eight returning defensive starters while also noting the excitement surrounding the program with the opening of a brand-new football stadium and track that has energized both the team and community. With momentum building, Henryetta’s goals are clear: make a deep playoff run and contend for a Class 2A-1 state championship.
Offensively, five starters return, and the unit is led by senior quarterback Nakona Johnson (5-11, 165), who emerged as one of the top passers in Class 2A a year ago. The District 4 Quarterback of the Year threw for 1,607 yards and 20 touchdowns, finishing fifth in Class 2A-2 in passing yards and fourth in touchdown passes. A VYPE Top 100 nominee, Johnson is expected to become a full-time two-way standout after also seeing action in the secondary last season. He’ll have no shortage of weapons around him. Junior Malachi Brown (5-7, 160) provides versatility at running back and receiver, while sophomore Mekko McNac (6-1, 240) is a physical mismatch at tight end and running back. Senior Haiden Kaler (6-1, 170) and sophomore Blazin Davis (6-0, 170) give the Knights size on the outside, and senior Joseph Cummings (6-0, 210) returns after scoring four rushing touchdowns a year ago.
Defense should again be a strength with eight starters back. Junior linebacker Braxton Stockholm (6-0, 190) recorded 52 tackles and five tackles for loss despite playing just eight games, while senior Jaylin Lindsay (5-11, 185) added 48 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. Senior defensive tackle Tucker McManus (6-0, 220) anchored the interior with 30.5 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks in only seven games. Junior Landen Hunnicutt-Jones (5-10, 250) contributed 26.5 tackles, eight tackles for loss and four sacks, while McNac added another physical presence off the edge with 25.5 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and three sacks. Davis also returns in the secondary after totaling 21.5 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and an interception.
