Dewar enters 2026 fresh off a 12-2 season and expects to be in the hunt at the end once again under ninth-year head coach Jake Stapp. The Dragons do have some key spots to fill, but Stapp believes a promising group of young players and strong leadership from the returners will keep the program’s standard high.
Offensively, Dewar will operate from a pro-style look with the goal of making defenses defend the entire field, spreading the ball around to a deep skill group. Senior Joseph Moore (6-4, 215) is a focal point after producing more than 1,500 all-purpose yards from his wide receiver/running back role last fall, giving the Dragons a matchup problem all over the formation. He is joined by senior receiver Tanner Wilson (5-10, 180), junior receiver Bentley Thrall (5-11, 170) and sophomore quarterback Traber Jones (6-3, 190), while senior center Zach Moore (6-1, 240) anchors the offensive line as one of five returning starters on that side of the ball.
Defensively, Dewar will base out of a 3-2 alignment with a simple directive: “fly around.” Joseph Moore returns as a standout linebacker after racking up 98 tackles and six interceptions, while Thrall and Wilson strengthen the back end at safety and corner, respectively, and sophomore linebacker Braxton Wiebe (5-11, 210) adds physicality inside. With four starters returning on defense and a tone built on speed and aggressiveness, the Dragons expect to swarm to the ball and create momentum-changing plays.
