STEVIE VAFEAS
Fort Gibson High School
As the high school wrestling season begins, Stevie Vafeas is fast becoming known as the “King of the Mat” by posting a 16-0 record including 14 falls and also earning the gold medal at 285 pounds while competing in the Chuck West Invitational meet in Bristow.
A class 4A state qualifier in 2024, the Fort Gibson junior has also earned Academic All-American honors by recording a 4.1 grade point average including 23 ACT score.
A three-year starter in both wrestling and football, Stevie Vafeas continues to make the most of every opportunity.
“Stevie is a hard worker, on and off the mat,” said head coach Sammy Johnson. “He stays focused, physically and mentally including his work in the classroom. He’s a leader for us in the wrestling room and continues to be a huge impact on what we do as a team.”
