Coach: TRENT HOLT
6-5
OFFENSE
Coach Trent Holt took the Webbers Falls Warriors to the playoffs for the fifth straight year in 2024 and, despite some key losses, is optimistic that he has the players to make it six in a row in 2025. “We have five returning starters who have a lot of experience,” said the veteran coach. “On offense we have to replace a good lineman and tailback, but we think we have the pieces to compete for a playoff spot in our district.” The name Shelby has been a big part of the Warriors’s success these past five years with Maddux providing most of the offensive punch for four years and now his brother Gunner (5-8, 140, Jr.) is stepping further into the limelight at wide receiver. He has snagged 50 catches for 600 yards in his career thus far and will be looking to continue making big catches from the arm of Brutus Robinson (5-8, 145, Jr.) in 2025 who will execute Holt’s spread offense. “We’ll emphasize getting the ball out quick and probably be more pass oriented than we’ve been in the past,” said Holt. Trysten Wilbourn (5-10, 170, Sr.) will join Shelby at wide receiver and the line will welcome back Brock Rhoden (6-2, 230, Sr.)
DEFENSE
“We’ve got more questions on defense coming into this year,” said Holt. “We have to replace both linebackers which may lead us to change our defensive scheme a little.” One of the players that will step into a linebacker spot is Thadan Yandell (6-2, 240, So.). Rhoden and Chevy Cole (6-1, 240, So.) will man the front line of the defense for the Warriors and Shelby will be in the secondary. “We’ll probably go to a 3-5 defense which fits our personnel a little better as we probably won’t have the speed that we’ve had in the past. This should help keep everything inside and help set the edges better,” said Holt. The head coach will also be looking to freshman Chance Young to have an impact this year. “Chance works hard in the weight room and while he is still a raw talent, his frame could help him someday be a special player.”
