Coach: MICKEY DUNCAN
22-8
OUTLOOK
Things are looking pretty rosy for the Warner Eagles as the 2025 fast pitch season grows closer. After going 22-8 last year and battling against eventual Class 2A state finalist Pocola in regionals, Warner returns everyone from that team plus adding some talented freshmen which makes coach Mickey Duncan pretty happy. “We’re excited for the upcoming season as we return all nine starters from last year’s team. With that experience and chemistry already in place, we’re looking to build on last year’s success and compete at an even higher level.” Leading the way for the Eagles is pitcher Ella LaBounty. She was Prep Nation’s 2024 Class 2A Outstanding Player while recording 254 strikeouts over 150 innings pitched and batting .507 at the plate. “Ellas’s impact on both sides of the game is unmatched,” said Duncan. “She consistently delivers in high pressure moments while maintaining a 4.0 GPA in the classroom.” Ella will be joined this year by her sister Paisley, a freshman who looks to follow in her sister’s athletic footsteps. “Paisley can play just about anywhere on the field, but she will probably be our starting catcher this year, forming part of an exciting battery of LaBountys,” said the veteran head coach. Another new face for the Eagles will be Addy Whitley who can pitch and play any infield position and who has great instincts at the plate as well. Among the returning players are Tallon Ashmore and Ava Peters. “Tallon has battled through some health issues over the last year but hasn’t let that slow her down,” said the head coach. “She continues to work hard to improve her game and do everything she can to stay healthy. Despite the challenges, Tallon shows incredible strength, determination and heart every day. Ava is one of those players who lead with integrity and a strong work ethic. She treats everyone with respect and always puts the team before herself. She’s dependable, encouraging and sets a positive example on and off the field.” With a strong returning group and talented newcomers, the Eagles look to push past that regionals barrier to make a deep playoff run in 2025.
