Warner High School – Wrestling Preview

WARNER WRESTLING

Coach Tyson Hume enters the 2025 wrestling season with young but talented boys and girls wrestling teams. The girls are headed up by senior Jayden Windrix who qualified for state two years ago and just missed out last year.

“Jayden will wrestle at 105 for us this year and I expect a lot from her in her senior season. She went to a lot of camps over the summer and has committed to wrestle next year at Carl Albert,” said Hume.

Other seniors that will wrestle for the Lady Eagles are Mercy Armstrong at 190 pounds and Carissa Prock who transferred from Vian. She is a two-time state qualifier and will wrestle at 125. Juniors for the Lady Eagles are Shaylyn Tsosie, slated for the 170-pound spot, and Kaidence Boswell. There’s lots of promise in the freshmen group for Warner headed up by Libberty Drake.

“Libberty comes from a family of wrestlers that includes her brother Lubbock who was a three-time state qualifier for us,” said Hume. “She is a two-time junior high all-state qualifier with a goal and the ability to be a four-time state champ at the high school level and will wrestle at 130 pounds.”

Other freshmen wrestlers that will be heard from for the girls include Brooklyn Baldillez who will be at 110 pounds and Symphony Kuykendall who will wrestle at 100 pounds.

The guys are led by senior Kelson Bennett who will be at 165 pounds.

“Kelson has been with us for seven years and he’s really put in a lot of work to improve himself physically and mentally and I’m expecting a lot out of him,” said Hume.

Junior Kail Moore will be at 175 for the Eagles as he continues to improve. There are three guys that will compete for the heavyweight spot in Poncho Diaz who is the front runner, Ethan Forrest and Syler Jobe. Junior Levi Bishop, best known for his cross country running, has been a surprise so far.

“This fall we had some of the wrestlers running cross country to help with their numbers and they talked to Levi about wrestling and so he came out and he’s loving it and has done well so far. He’ll probably wrestle at 106,” said Hume. The lineup is also dotted with football players who are wrestling, including J.R. Hall at 215 pounds, Bradley Baldillez who will be at 138 or 144 and Kenny Weston who will be at 150 pounds. Other Eagles looking for spots in the Eagles lineup will be Jude Tsosie, Silas Shade, Britton Bishop, a transfer from Stigler, Trey Mounger and Tyler Lovett who will be at 190 pounds.
