Warner Eagles – Football Preview – Presented by Shearwood Chiropractic Clinic

OFFENSE

The Eagles turnaround 7-win season left a hunger for more in 2025 as Cade Shearwood enters his second season as head coach. “Last year’s rookies are now experienced under the pressure of game situations,” said the Warner coach while noting it’s still a young team this year. “Overall, our group is talented and willing to do the work to be successful.”  Offensively, five starters return including Memphis Swimmer (5-10, 165, Jr.) who moves from receiver to the quarterback position. “Swim has the arm talent and his mobility will provide us multiple playmaking options,” said Shearwood. The versatility of Demaurian Antwine (6-2, 170, Jr.) was proven a year ago while making 40 receptions totaling 700 yards and nine touchdowns while Ethan Glover (5-10, 160, Jr.) who grabbed 10 receptions, earned praise from the coach. “Dee and Ethan complete a trio of game changers,” said Shearwood. “Dee’s explosiveness turns small gains into big play results and Ethan plays with grit and determination that creates in winning results.” The spread offense gets a boost from the transfer portal as wide receivers Talon Shaffer (5-10, 165, Jr.) and Jace Bibee (5-11, 185, Jr.) join the Warner roster. The muscle of Francisco Diaz (6-1, 245, So.) supports his football IQ to pass the competition tests on the front line where Case Norman (6-0, 240, So.), a Georgia move in, will also control action on the line of scrimmage with power and agility. “Poncho (Diaz) understands his responsibilities and he finds a way to make plays and Case wins the conflicts with athleticism and desire.” Swimmer, Antwine and Diaz gained VYPE Top 100 nominations.

DEFENSE

With four starters returning, the Eagles will employ multiple fronts and combine a mix of slants and blitz packages to fly to the football from their 4-2-5 alignment. The aggressiveness of Francisco Diaz and Case Norman will anchor play on the defensive front while Ethan Glover, who made 55 tackles last season, brings strike force energy at linebacker along with another transfer Kristopher Gonzales (5-8, 180, Jr.). The disguised coverages in the secondary allowed free safety Memphis Swimmer to chart 37 tackles in 2024 while Demaurian Antwine recorded 26 stops from his cornerback position. The addition of Jace Bibee at linebacker and Talon Shaffer in the secondary will strengthen the Eagles opportunities to create turnovers as well as quick change of possession defensive results. “Altogether this group continues to display complete buy-in to achieving winning football games by understanding it’s an everyday duty not just making one or two plays on Friday night for us to achieve one of our goals by making the playoffs,” said Shearwood.
