OUTLOOK

In the fall most of the talk around the city of Wagoner is about their always-stellar football team. But this fall the town should also be buzzing about the Lady Bulldogs softball team which is loaded with talent and looking for a chance to take the next steps forward. “We have several starters returning from last year’s team, but we’ll still be young,” said head coach Johnny Hutchens. “Zoie Griffin and Goose Hutchens will highlight the team, but the rest of the cast is strong and there is the potential to do some special things this season.”

Griffin is the young pitcher who set the softball world abuzz as a freshman last year by recording 321strikeouts with an ERA of .933 while also contributing at the plate where she hit .300. Catcher Goose Hutchens is an explosive switch hitter who returns after being sidelined by injury last year. An All-District selection last season, Jaylen Fourkiller is one of just three seniors on the roster and will return to play shortstop where she hit .314 in 2023. Her sister Kenzi will be next door at third base while senior Kendra Condict will take the throws at first base and another young sophomore Sissy Pierce will be at second base. The outfield is headed up by sophomore Maya Renshaw who hit .381 last year with six homeruns along with sophomore Adyren Coker and senior Kayda Barnett.
