VIAN CHEERLEADERS COMPETE AT STATE
With the “spirit of the Wolverines” as a motivating force, Vian cheerleaders advanced to the OSSAA competitive cheer championships and claimed fifth place honors against the 12 team field. The 26-member group consists of 11 seniors including Rebel Buttery, Ali Cornelius, Jorryn Feezell, Scarlett Fields, Kiah Richardson, Halli Russell, Tressa Sandlin, Adlee Sharp, Averey Smith, Amelia Steely and Rayleigh Terril along with seven juniors including Kylie Covey, Sidney Cox, Isabella King, Eva Lee, Cassidee Postoak, Tina Rautenberg and Delilah Wolfe. Adding to the energy are five sophomores including Brooklyn Cox, Blazi Dieter, Amya Lackey, Katie Reason and Bostyn Rodgers as well as three freshmen including Gracie Buttery, Leila Cheater and Olivia Lovell. Wolverine cheerleaders are coached by Jordan Taylor and Callie Prier.

ST. JOHN FIELD GETS A MAKOVER
Legendary St. John field holds many exciting moments and with the recent addition of an artificial playing surface, the home of the Wolverines not only has a new look but an even greater value to the Vian community.
“The old grass field was in dire need of leveling and inclement weather, we had no where to practice,” said Gary Willis, head football coach and athletic director. “Now we have a top notch facility that everyone can use including our band, cheerleaders along with PE classes plus our stick sports (baseball and softball).”
With approval of the Vian school board and with financial support of local donors, the construction process was completed in six month in time for the 2025 football season.
“Youth football is big here in Vian and the young kids can practice and play here too. Some team or group is on it almost every hour of the day,” said Willis. “We’re very appreciative of the support of the Vian community to help make this project possible.”
