Spirit of the Wolverines

The non-stop energy of the Vian cheerleading team proved to be among the best in Oklahoma as the Wolverines claimed a fourth place among final 11 teams in Class 3A. Vian advanced to the OSSAA state championships after winning the 3A regional championship with a team score 250.4 points in competition at Broken Arrow. The talented group includes seniors Izzy Clouse, Kaylee LaMar, Annie Neal and Ruby Stahl alongside seven juniors including Ali Cornelius, Bailee Honeycutt, Halli Russell, Adlee Sharp, Averey Smith, Amelia Steely and Rayleigh Terrill. Eight sophomores including Kylie Covey, Bella King, Eva Lee, Alina Mendoza, Cassidee Postoak, Tina Rautenberg and Delilah Wolfe add to spirit and energy along with two freshmen Amya Lackey and Bostyn Rodgers. Vian cheerleaders are coached by Jordan Taylor.

There’s No Place Like Home – Coming

With the top-ranked Wolverines taking a huge step toward winning another district football championship with a victory over Henryetta brought a perfect crescendo to Homecoming 2024 after Izzy Clouse was chosen as Queen and crowned by her escort Cash Collins in pre-game festivities. Other members of the royalty court included senior candidates Callie Skaggs escorted by Dante Glass and Avery Wright escorted by Peyton Johnson along with junior attendant Averey Smith escorted by Spencer Dick joined by sophomore attendant Bella King escorted by Spencer Dick and freshman attendant Bostyn Rodgers escorted by Chris Cheater.  Flower girl Rachel Sandlin presented a bouquet of flowers for Queen Izzy while Jasper Swanson served as crown bearer.

Ready To Take The Mat

Wolverine wrestlers are preparing to return to the Class 3A podium in 2025 as Vian wrestling coach Garett Willis returns a trio of male wrestlers with the experience to make the medal stand. State qualifiers Tristan Wiley and Gunner Richey enter their senior year hungry and looking to get claim medals at the state meet while another returning starter GarrittHunt, who was one match away from qualifying last year looks to make the state tournament with a strong run in the post season.  On the girls mat, coach Willis reloads the Vian lineup with high expectations for incoming freshman Maddison Turman, whose first year on the mat last year and reached the podium at junior high All-State.
