As a senior at Stigler High School, Jacob Murrell is a standout athlete excelling in both football and baseball, showcasing his versatility and leadership on the field. “Playing games that I love, with my friends, and being a part of a team is what motivates me,” Jacob said, emphasizing the camaraderie and passion he shares with his teammates.

His outstanding stats reflect his contributions to both offense and pitching, underscoring his prowess and reliability in critical game situations. Jacob’s .375 batting average, .543 on-base percentage and impressive pitching stats reflect his all-around skill set and dedication to his craft.

Jacob recognizes the profound impact of educators in shaping his journey. “Mrs. Courtney Henson doesn’t just teach English; she teaches life skills and takes care of her students as if they were her own,” he shared, acknowledging the valuable mentorship he has received.

For Jacob, success in sports requires hard work, dedication, and a relentless spirit. “Not accepting defeat and never giving up” are principles he lives by, contributing to his impressive performances on the field.

One of Jacob’s memorable moments was during his junior year when he contributed significantly to a crucial win during the bi-regionals in baseball, closing out the game as the pitcher.

When it comes to competition, Jacob enjoys the challenge of facing formidable opponents like Broken Bow, relishing the thrill of victory.

Within his team, Jacob values the competitive spirit shared with teammates like Evan Williams. “We are equal in pitching talent, and when we do live at-bats, you never know who is going to win the battle between me and him,” he said, highlighting the friendly competition that drives improvement.

Representing the Stigler Panthers is something that means the world to Jacob: “It means a lot to be able to represent Stigler. I represent my town by showing good sportsmanship and always competing.”

Off the field, Jacob is actively involved in FFA, showcasing his dedication to both athletics and agricultural education.

Looking ahead, Jacob Murrell plans to attend college, pursue his degree and aspire to join the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
