Coach: Gary Hollingshed
23-24 Record: 19-7
Despite graduation losses of three multi-year starters, the Lady Panthers return a solid foundation of talent from last year’s 19-win campaign including two All-Conference playmakers. Point guard Jordan Johnson (5-6, Sr.), a VYPE Top 100 choice, will once again lead the charge after totaling 10-plus point per contest and five assists plus grabbing five rebounds and earning defensive player of the year honors after creating 4.4 steals per game. “Jordan has been an impact player since her freshman year,” said head coach Gary Hollingshed. “There’s multiple reasons why she’s earned Black Diamond All-Conference honors the last two years.” Caitlyn Lovett (5-7, Sr.) gained all-conference honors while averaging six points per game to go along with 5-plus boards and three steals. “Caitlyn plays with tons of effort on both ends of the court,” the Panthers coach said with emphasis.
“She the player who is ready to take on any challenge to make her team better.” After picking up valuable game minutes as a freshman, Hollingshed expects to see Maddy Pruett (5-9, So.) step into the prime time this season. Another young talent catching the eye of the Panthers coach is incoming freshman forward Mya Nixon (5-8, Fr.) while Londan Daniels (5-7, Jr.) will be expected to expand her point production. Hollingshed will look to the “team first” efforts of Kinsey Miller along with Payton Mecom (5-7, Jr.) and Tatum Rowland to bolster the Panthers abilities on both ends of the court.
“With this group we can be an uptempo style attack with multiple threats to score as well remain an aggressive defensive squad that will force turnovers to create scoring chance,” said Hollingshed.
