Playing in just their second tournament of the season, the Roughers five man lineup combined scorecard results to post a team score of 309 and finished in third place at the Collinsville Invitational on Thursday. Paced by the play of freshman Luke Pool (74), the youthful lineup finished behind Claremore and Bartlesville on the team total scoreboard. Krew Thompson (76), Perry Bartley (78) along with Ladd Elgin (81) and Van Elgin (82) gave the Roughers a good score for the early season event.
“Yesterday was the best we have played as a group so far but this team still has a chip on their shoulders. The boys know they left some shots out on the course,” said Roughers coach Ryan Dvorak. “We have a busy couple weeks in preparation for regionals and plan on hitting on all cylinders at the right time of the year.”
The Muskogee golfers return to action on Saturday at Bixby before traveling to Tuttle on Thursday.
