Jordan Garner takes over the reins of the Panther fortunes this season as the head coach and feels good about the starting spot for Porum.
“We have three returning starters and a good nucleus of upper and lower classmen on the roster,” said the veteran coach.
Back for another year on the hardwoods as starters for the Panthers are Isaiah Sallee (5-10, Sr.) who averaged 7.6 points and 3.2 rebounds per game, Cooper Franklin (6-3, Sr.) with a 6.4 point per game scoring average and Zac Ayers (6-3, Jr.) who averaged 4.2 points per game in 2023. Leadership will be an important ingredient for the Panthers and seniors Zack Tallon (6-2) and Waylon Dishman (6-2) will be a big help in that department while also pushing for a spot in the starting rotation. Junior Trevor Schexnayder (5-8) will also figure into that mix and the sophomore class may represent some surprises with players like Shaun Robinson (5-10), Luke Johnson (6-3), Bryson Catron (5-10), Memphis Tripp (6-2) and Austin Ledbetter (5-10). Freshmen Lane Madewell (5-10) and Jaxon Rock (6-2) will be on the learning curve for the Panthers as they grow and provide depth for Porum. Most of the upperclassmen saw enough playing time last year to post some numbers so there will be some experience level among the top seven or so players.
