MUSKOGEE ROUGHERS
GIRLS
Coach: Bryan Bunch
23-24 Record: 4-20
Embrace the challenge…more than just team motto, the three words are driving force in the efforts of the Roughers who return the experience of a senior group of players determined to compete with courage and fight to the finish. Topping the list of playmakers is VYPE Top 100 pick and four-year starter Malaysia Burton (5-8, Sr.) who averaged 15.2 points per contest a year ago. “She’s a generational talent who can do anything on the floor,” said head coach Bryan Bunch. “A true student of the game, Malaysia is a complete scorer and phenomenal defender.”
Adding to the Roughers high expectations for a successful season will be Nyasia Ivy (5-4, Jr.), a streaky shooter whose competitive energy can change a game in a moment’s instance. Bunch is all smiles when pointing out the abilities of newcomer Aiyana Brewer (6-1, Sr.) a skilled stretch forward with basketball IQ and character to match. D’mya Brown (5-3, Sr.) and Jordan Campbell (5-10, Sr.) also provide non-stop effort and energy as well as valuable game time experience. Aniyah Thomas (5-10, Sr.) and Jaslyn Gandy (5-4, Sr.) will be first off the bench for Bunch to keep the energy at a high level. Among the others ticketed to deliver valuable contributions is a highly skilled trio of freshmen including Charlesia Normore (5-5, Fr. ), Ke’Lashia Smith (5-3, Fr.), and Aspen Thomas (5-4, Fr. ). Rounding out the talent pool on the varsity level are Dionna Roberts (5-7, Jr.) and Eleesha Lee (5-10, Jr.).
“Our goal is to FINISH, said the Roughers third year head coach. “At the basket, win the battle on the boards and do the little things on every possession to create turnovers while limiting our own mistakes.”
