3A

Anadarko

The Warriors ended a three game losing streak to rival Chickasha with a 56-28 hammering of the Chicks. Anadarko has won 11 fo the last 14 between the teams. 

Kent Jackson enters his 20th season in two different stints as the head coach of the Warriors. The Anadarko natiave has won 132 games during the last 19 years, the all-time best at the school. 

Berryhill

Head coach Pat Harper won his 150th game at Berryhill on October 4th defeating Inola 42-7. Harper is the all-time leader in wins at Berryhill. 

Berryhill extended its streak over Sequoyah-Claremore to ten with a 28-21 win on November 1st. The Chiefs are now 19-13 all-time against the Eagles.

Bristow

Promised Johnson rushed for 150 yards and a touchdown and threw for 112 yards and two more touchdowns in the Pirates 42-14 win over McLoud. 

Bristow dropped its fifth stratight to Perkins-Tryon 42-35. The rivalry renewed for the first time since the 2013 season. Perkins now holds a 5-4 all-time series lead.

Cascia Hall

Cascia Hall won its 24th district championship in 2024. This will be the 50th season the Commandos have competed in the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association. 

Fisher Lai scored five touchdowns in the first quater of Cascia’s 49-6 win over Verdigris. Lai returned a punt, kick, caught two touchdown passes and rushed for another score.

Checotah

Quarterback Cole Rolland threw for 317 yards and four touchdowns in the Wildcat’s 35-32 win over Bristow. 

Jayden Ellen rushed 19 times for 275 yards and five touchdowns in the Wildcats 68-42 win over Locust Grove.

Cleveland

The Cleveland-Mannford rivalry is unbroken back to 1971. Cleveland has lost three in a row but has maintains a 36-20 lead during that span. 

Cleveland and Blackwell will meet for the 15th time on August 29th. The Tigers have won three in a row and have an 8-6 edge in the series.

Eufaula

Peter Lee rushed 36 times for 361 yards and four touchdowns in the Ironheads 59-41 loss to Locust Grove. 

Larry Newton begins his 14th year as head coach at Eufaula. Newton is eight wins away from 100 at the school. He trails all-time wins leader Paul Bell by 26 victories. Bell coached from 1962-1979.

Heritage Hall

Jerrod Williams caught five passes for 178 yards, including a 99-yarder for a touchdown in the Chargers season opening 28-20 loss to Lincoln Christian. 

The Heritage Hall district wins streak is still alive now at 80 in a row. The Chargers had a pair of scares in back games with an overtime win at Plainview and a five point decision at Pauls Valley. 

Holland Hall

Kainon Gibson caught seven passes for 203 yards and three touchdowns and also intercepted a pass in the Dutchemen’ 33-32 win over Checotah. 

Holland Hall beat Berryhill for the third time in the last five years, going on the road to knock the Cheifs out of the Class 3A playoffs with a 21-13 win. 

Idabel

Idabel is coming off back to back shutout wins over nearby Ashdown, Arkansas. The Panthers bounced back to finish 5-6, making the Class 4A playoffs. 

The Warriors wlil put a nine game winning sterak against Valliant on the line in the season opener. Idabel has outscored the Bulldogs 193-25 in the last four meetings. 

Inola

Inola defeated Cleveland 34-0 for the first time in three tries on November 8th. The teams last met in 1999 with the Tigers earning a 7-6 win. 

The Longhorns have taken three of the last four against Sperry including last year’s 31-7 win. Inola also owns a 10-5 advantage in the history of the series against the Pirates. 

Jay

The Bulldogs made the playoffs for the first time since 2017 finishing fourth in Class 3A-4.

Jay ended a five game losing streak to Verdigris, outscoring the Carindals 52-36 on September 26th. 

Kingfisher

Quarterback Jhett Birdwell completed 18 of 23 passes for 365 yards and five touchdowns in the Yellowjackets 35-6 win over Bridge Creek. 

Kingfisher and Anadarko will meet for the 10th time on October 31st. The Yellowjackets have won three in a row and five of nine dating back to the first meeting in 1982. 

Lincoln Christian

The Bulldogs are riding a school record 28-game winning streak entering 2025. They have posted double-digit winning seasons in 15 of the last 18 years. 

Carter Ricke completed 16 of 22 passes for 289 yards and four touchdowns in the Bulldogs 49-7 second round playoff win over Pauls Valley. 

Locust Grove

Locust Grove and Adair will meet for the 12th straight year on September 12th. The teams have split the last two meetings with Adair winning in 2024. The teams have combined to score 223 points in the last two games. 

The Pirates ended a six game losing streak to Stigler, knocking off the Panthers 36-22. Locust Grove’s last win in the series was 2002. 

Lone Grove

Tatum Quinn shined in the Longhorns 46-37 win over McLoud. Quinn rushed for four touchdowns and threw for another

Lone Grove and Plainview will meet for the 47th time in the Five Mile Feud. The Indians won last years meeting and own a 33-13 edge in the series. 

Mannford

Max Moore threw for 222 yards and a touchdown and rushed for two more scores in the Pirates 35-25 loss to Lone Grove. 

The Pirates have dropped seven consecutive playoff games, with their last appearance coming in 2017. Mannford’s last playoff win was a 20-7 victory over Glenpool in the 1990 Class 3A first round. 

McLoud

McLoud travels to Bethel on September 12th. It will be the 16th consecutive meeting between the teams located just 12 miles apart. The Redskins have won three in a row and 9 of 15. 

The Redskins have lost ten straight to Perkins-Tryon. The teams have met every year since 2006 with the exception of 2020. 

Muldrow

Teaguen Collins threw for 158 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 184 yards and three touchdowns in the Bulldogs 53-20 over Roland. 

The Bulldogs have lost 16 straight playoff games dating back to 1985. Muldrow was eliminated in the Class 3A semifinals by Vinita and has not tasted post season victory since. 

North Rock Creek

The Cougars have not been shutout in a game since their innagural season in 2020. Their current scoring streak stands at 35 games. 

North Rock Creek defeated Prague for the first time in three meetings 49-14. The teams renew hostilities again on September 12th in Prague. 

Pauls Valley

Pauls Valley and Lindsay will meet for the 60th time in a series that dates back to 1954. The Panthers have won three in a row but trail the Leopards 35-24 during that period. 

Pauls Valley is on a three game winning streak against Purcell for the first time since the 1976 season. The Panthers have never beaten the Dragons four straight times. 

Perkins-Tryon

Raiden McLemore rushed 14 times for 184 yards and three touchdowns in Perkins-Tryon’s 52-8 win over Seminole. 

Wyatt Atkinson carried 13 times for 166 yards and three touchdowns in the Demons 42-7 win over Mannford. 

Plainview

Cooper Flowers completed 10 of 14 passes for 234 yards and three touchdowns in the Indians 49-7 win over arch-rival Lone Grove. 

Matthew Chapa rushed 14 times for 138 yards and three touchdowns in the Indians 34-33 win over North Rock Creek. 

Purcell

Quarterback Deaken Dobbins threw for 168 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 48 yards and two more touchdowns in the Dragons 45-42 loss to Anadarko. 

Purcell’s first football win was 16-0 over Pauls Valley in 1899. They recorded win number 716 last season last year 55-26 at Star Spencer. 

Seminole

Seminole takes on McLoud for the 30th time in a series that first began in 1978. The Chieftains are currently riding a seven game winning streak and have won 25 of the 29 games. 

Donavin Garfield rushed 9 times for 180 yards and a touchdown in the Chieftains 44-21 win over Mannford. 

Sequoyah-Claremore

The Eagles dropped thier eighth straight game to Cascia Hall 41-31. Sequoyah’s only win against the Commandos was a 20-14 victory in 2005. 

Sequoyah and Inola will play for the 22nd consecutive season on October 10th. The Eagles have won three in a row and 16 of those 21 matchups. 

Star Spencer

The Bobcats last playoff win came in the 2009 Class 4A state championship against Douglass. Darwin Rideau scored twice for Star Spencer in the Bobcats 34-21 win. 

Star Spencer lost to Anadarko 46-8 on September 27th. That defeat ended a five game winning streak against the Warriors. Anadarko last defeated Star Spencer in 1997. 

Stigler

Stigler and Checotah will play for the 62nd time on October 10th. Checotah has won two straight and holds a slight edge all-time in wins at 31-30.  

Stigler is 0-2 all-time in state championship games. The Panthers lost the 1965 Class B State Championship to Wynnewood 8-0 and the 1960 Class B state championship 32-6 to Choctaw. 

Sulphur

Maddux Mobly rushed 16 times for 178 yards and five touchdowns in the Bulldogs 53-21 Class 3A quarterfinals win over Idabel. 

The Bulldogs take on Lone Grove for the 30th time on October 10th. Sulphur has won two in a row and 22 of the 29 games all-time. 

Verdigris

Peyton Stelling rushed for 98 yards and three touchdowns and caught a 48-yard touchdown pass in the Cardinals 52-36 loss to Jay.

13 miles seperate Verdigris from Sequoyah high school. The teams meet for the 14th time on November 7th. The Eagles won last year’s meeting and own the series lead 8-5. 

Victory Christian

Blake Bartman rushed 20 times for 142 yards and two touchdowns in the Conquerors 39-28 loss at Holland Hall. 

The Conquerors missed the playoffs for just the second time in 15 years in 2024. Victory has won a playoff game in 8 of those 13 seasons. 

Vinita

Vinita has reached the state championship game three times but has never come away with the gold ball. The Hornets last finals appearance came in 1995. 

The Hornets beat Verdigris for the first time ever 19-14 in 2024. The Cardinals had won all four previous meetings in series history.

4A

Ada

Brock Boyles threw for 568 yards and six touchdowns, tying his own single game record, in the Cougars 53-50 first round playoff win over Cushing. 

Wide receiver Lakievin Richardson caught 13 of those passes for 213 yards and two touchdowns. 

Ardmore

Jamane Stubblefield ran for 123 yards and two touchdowns in the Tigers 35-12 win over Chickasha. 

After being shutout 41-0 in 2023, the Tigers turned the tables on their arch-rival Ada, winning 42-18 at Noble Stadium. The win brought the Tigers within one victory of tying the all-time series. Ada leads 50-49-2

Bethany

Head coach Jon Arthur is entering his ninth season at Bethany and is the all-time wins leader at the school with 71 wins. Arthur passed Reagan Roof at 67 last season. 

With John Marshall’s departure from the schedule, Bethany will host Shiloh Christian from Springdale, AR. The Saints finished 9-4 in 2024 and runner up to Greenwood in Arkansas’ Class 6A Division. 

Blanchard

Noah Smith completed 10 of his 24 passes for 234 yards and three touchdowns in the Lions’ 33-24 win over Guthrie. 

Blanchard won its fourth consecutive game against Newcastle, topping the Racers 14-10. The Lions took the all-time lead in the series 26-25 with the victory. 

Bridge Creek

Bridge Creek defeated Cache for the first time in school history 30-21 on October 17th. The Bulldogs had won the previous six meetings dating back to 1992. 

Wyatt Leonard rushed 25 times for 200 yards and four touchdowns in the Bobcats’ 48-6 win over Douglass. 

Broken Bow

Quarterback Greydon Howell ran for 241 yards and four touchdowns and threw for another 241 yards and two touchdowns in the Savages 42-34 win over Durant. 

The Savages missed the playoffs for the first time since 2016, Broken Bow has won 56 playoff games and have made 10 state championship appearances, winning four titles. 

Cache

Cache knocked off the Woodward Boomers 30-23 on October 4th. It was their fourth consecutive win in the series. 

The Bulldogs own three all-time playoff wins. The first was 57-12 win over Velma-Alma in the 1983 Class A playoffs. The latest two wins were in 2019 and 2020 against Tecumseh. 

Catoosa

Catoosa and Oologah will play for the 18th consecutive season on October 16th. It’s the longest unbroken matchup on the schedule. Catoosa ended a two-game losing streak with a 27-24 win last year. 

The Indians are still searching for their first ever appearance in a state title game. Catoosa has made the semifinals three times the latest in 2011. 

Chickasha

Chickasha and El Reno will meet for the 67th time to open the season. The Indians have a two-game winning streak and lead the all-time series 36-30.  

Carson Bowen scored all three touchdowns in the Fightin’ Chicks 24-19 loss to Harrah. Bowen played Wildcat quarterback and also caught 5 passes for 104 yards. 

Clinton

Clinton improved to 7-0 all-time against Blanchard with a crazy 21-20 first round win against the Lions. The Reds have won at least one playoff game in 32 of the last 34 years. 

The Red Tornados host Heritage Hall to open the season. It will be the 15th game between the teams with the Chargers owning an 11-3 advantage. 

Cushing

Quarterback Roman Tucker was a perfect 15 for 15 passing for 306 yards and four touchdowns in Cushing’s 35-3 win over Skiatook. 

Cushing won only one playoff game between 1982 and 2013. The Tigers have won 13 playoff games since 2014 and have state runner up finishes in 2014 and 2022. 

Douglass

Douglass opens the season against Capitol Hill. It’s the first meeting between the schools since 2017. Douglass has won nine in a row, last losing to Capitol Hill in 1978, 

The Trojans won their last football state championship in 2010. Running back Aliston Cobb scored 10 touchdowns in the playoffs and Douglass defeated Wagoner 20-13 to win the 4A title. 

Elgin

Ritson Meyer rushed 42 times for 230 yards and three touchdowns in the Owls 29-22 win over Tuttle in the Class 4A state championship game. 

The Owls led Class 4A in defense allowing only 48 points during the regular season and an average of 6.3 points per game overall. 

Elk City

Tucker Garza rolled up 215 total yards of offense and two touchdowns plus an interception and tackle for loss in the Elks 28-14 win over Altus. 

Elk City lost its seventh straight to Tuttle 34-6 in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs. The Elks last win against the Tigers was a 15-0 blanking in 1983. 

Ft. Gibson

Cash Keys caught 8 passes for 191 yards and 5 touchdowns in the Tigers 56-24 win at Skiatook. 

The Tigers reclaimed “The Rock” in the battle with Hilldale, knocking off the Hornets 28-13, halting a five game losing streak in the series. 

Glenpool

The Warriors face Fort Gibson in the season opener. It’s the sixth straight years the teams have played. The Tigers won last year but the Warriors have a 3-2 edge in the series. 

Glenpool won its last state championship in 2008, beating Bishop McGuinness for the Class 4A championship 27-17. Running back Marco Nelson rushed for 245 yards and three touchdowns. 

Grove

Isaac Sheffield caught 3 passes for 111 yards including a 98-yarder for a touchdown in the Ridgerunners 21-20 win at Catoosa. 

The Ridgerunners won their 5th straight Deleware County Bowl over Jay 47-12. Grove has scored 44 points or more in all five wins. It’s one of the state’s longest rivalries dating back over a century. 

Harrah

Harrah and McLoud will meet for the 50th time in the season opener. The Panthers have won the last two and 34 of the 49 games dating back to 1965. 

The Panthers dropped their 9th straight to Bethany 42-7 on October 17th. The teams first met in 1953 and Harrah last defeated the Bronchos in 1971. 

Hilldale

Quarterback Dawson Fields completed 14 of 21 passes for 283 yards and four touchdowns in the Hornets 47-35 win over Ada. 

Hilldale eliminated Miami fromt the first round of the playoffs, knocking off the WarDogs 21-9. They are 5-0 all time against Miami winning the last four by a margin of 198-23.

Madill

Madill has just six playoff wins dating back to 1951. The Wildcats last post-season win came in the first round of the 2012 Class 3A playoffs 27-14 over Star Spencer.  

Madill and Dickson will meet for the 50th time on September 12th. The teams have played in 48 of the last 50 seasons. The Comets have won the last two but Madill is 36-13 since 1974. 

McLain

McLain has won 16 games the past three seasons that’s the most over a three-year stretch since winning 18 from 2011 to 2013. 

McLain and Central will meet for the 10th straight season on August 29th. Central has won the past two games in the series including 12-8 a year ago. 

Miami

The WarDogs finished 8-3 in 2024. That’s the most wins at the school since going 9-3 in 2008. It’s only the third time in 35 years Miami has won 8 games. 

Miami ended a ten game losing streak to Grove, handing the Ridgerunners a 31-28 loss on their home field on October 17th. 

Oologah

Oologah and Collinsville will meet for the 52nd consecutive season on September 12th. The Cardinals have won five in a row. The Mustangs won 19 of 22 from 1989 to 2011. 

The Mustangs have not finished with a winning record since 2017. Their win total of 2 in 2024 was the lowest since finishing 1-9 in 2000. 

Poteau

Poteau and Broken Bow will meet for the 50th time on November 7th. The Pirates have won six of the last seven games but trail the overall series by one 25-24. 

The Pirates lost to Hilldale for the first time since 2017. Poteau has a 13-8 edge over the Hornets in the all-time series. 

Sallisaw

The Black Diamonds ended an eight game losing streak to Poteau with a 14-7 overtime win. Wide receiver Cooper Cox caught the game winner from Kase Adams in the extra period. 

Head coach Brandon Tyler won his 200th game when Sallisaw smashed Glenpool 38-7. Tyler now sits at 203 in just 20 years coaching at Vian, Gore and Sallisaw. 

Skiatook

Eli Sutton rushed 19 times for 124 yards and three touchdowns in the Bulldogs 42-12 win over Nathan Hale.

The Bulldogs take on Glenpool for the 10th consecutive season. Skiatook ended a three game losing streak to the Warriors with a 16-13 victory in 2024. 

Stilwell

Brayton Carter returned a kick 69 yards for the game winning score with under a minute to play to beat Keys 21-10. Carter also intercepted three passes and caught 7 passes for 112 yards. 

The Indians lost a wild one 48-45 to Gentry, AR in the 2024 season opener. The Pioneers went on to finish 9-3, losing to Arkadelphia in the 2nd round of the Class 4A playoffs. Stilwell travels to Gentry on August 29th. 

Tecumseh

Jekhi Owens caught six passes for 81 yards and two touchdowns in the Savages 21-0 win over Madill on September 27th. 

Tecumseh edged McLoud 35-34 to beat the Inidians for the sixth consecutive seaason. 

Tuttle

Quarterback Cruz Campbell completed 19 of 28 passes for 277 yards and three touchdowns including the game winner with no time on the clock to beat Guthrie 31-24. 

Shawn Rounsaville carried 9 times for 150 yards and three touchdowns in the Tigers 57-6 win over Tecumseh. 

Wagoner

Wagoner defeated Poteau 49-21 in the first round of the 4A playoffs, extending it’s streak to 20 consecutive years with at least one post-season win. 

The Bulldogs defeated Coweta 36-7 and took a one-game lead all time in the series history 28-27. It’s the first time Wagoner has led the all-time series since 1982. 

Weatherford

The Eagles have won 11 straight against Woodward. The series is unbroken for the last 22 years with Weatherford owning a 17-4 edge during that time span. 

Weatherford defeated El Reno 31-0 on September 13th. It was the 500th win for the school in football. Woody Roof is the all-time wins leader at Weatherford with 82. 

Woodward

Woodward and Alva will play for the 30th time on September 12th. The Goldbugs ended a seven-game losing streak to Woodward a year ago with a 15-13 win. The series had been on hiatus since 1981. 

The Boomers have won just two playoff games since making a semifinals appearance in 1996. Woodward’s last playoff victory was a 49-7 thumping of Ada in the 2013 Class 4A first round.

5A

Altus

The Bulldogs beat Lawton for the second straight time in 2024. This year will be mark the 60th meeting between the teams with Lawton holding a 39-20 advantage. 

Altus won the Battle of the Bulldogs for the first time ever against Cache, 34-23 on September 13th. The victory ended a five-game losing streak to Cache. 

DJ Wilson ran 17 times for 144 yards and two touchdowns and threw a 46-yard pass for a touchdown in the Bulldogs 36-31 loss to El Reno. 

Bishop Kelley

Head coach J.J. Tapana begins his 20th season as the head coach at Bishop Kelley. He’s the longest tenured coach in Class 5A. Tapana is four wins shy of reaching 150 wins at Bishop Kelley. 

The Comets face McAlester for the 29th time on October 17th in a series that dates back to 1968. The teams have split the last six meetings with McAlester holding an all-time advantage 21-8.

Bishop Kelley and Coweta will play for the 30th time in the last 35 years on October 3rd. The Comets won last year’s meeting 22-6 and have a 15-14 lead over the Tigers since 1990. 

Bishop McGuinness

Bishop McGuinness and Lawton High squarred off for the first time ever last year. The Irish defeated the Wolverines 42-7 to advance in the Class 5A playoffs. 

McGuinness will travel to Wichita, Kansas on September 19th to face Bishop Carroll. The Irish won last year’s meeting 49-0. Bishop Carrol is the alma-mater of former University of Oklahoma and Kansas City Chief Blake Bell. 

McGuinness extended its streak of winning records to 24 years in a row. Only Jenks (36), Union (35) and Tuttle (30) have longer active 11-man streaks. 

Booker T. Washington

Kayden McClellan was huge for the Hornets in a 13-7 slugfest win over McAlester. McLellan intercepted two passes and forced a fumble in the victory. 

Mykah Washington rushed for 203 yards and three touchdowns in the Hornets 23-0 win over Bishop Kelley. 

Booker T. Washington eliminated Collinsville from the playoffs with a 25-20 first round win. It was the first matchup between the teams since 2011. Booker T. is 3-0 all-time against the Cardinals. 

Carl Albert

Carl Albert fielded the most dominant defense in school history. The Titans began the season with five striaght shutouts and allowed only 53 points in 14 games on the way to their 19th state title. 

The Titans have won 36 straight district games. The streak extends back to October 4th of 2019 when the Titans lost 10-6 at Piedmont. 

Lebron Royal finished with nine tackles including a tackle for loss and a forced fumble and recoverty in the 30-6 state championship win over Guthrie. 

Claremore

Running back Cecil Garrett rushed 16 times for 142 yards and a touchdown in the Zebras’ 35-33 win over Bartlesville. 

The Zebras shut out three opponents in 2024. It was the first time Claremore had recorded three shutouts in a single season since 1988. 

Claremore defeated McAlester 14-0 in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs. It was the Zebras first win over the Buffaloes since 2012. It was the eighth post-season meeting between the foes since 1977. 

Classen SAS

Leo Higbie is the all-time winningest coach in Classen football history. Higbee won 59 games from 1937 to 1946. Higbee graduated from Classen High School and played for Henry Iba when he was the coach of the Comets.

The Comets played Bishop McGuinness for the first time since 1979 on September 27th. The Irish came away with a 63-0 win and have won all three meetings between the teams. 

Classen scored just 27 points in 2024. The average of 2.7 points per game was the lowest in Class 5A football. 

Collinsville

Running back Scott Rigby rushed 41 times for 223 yards and 5 touchdowns in the Cardinals 35-21 win over Tahlequah. 

Wide receiver Ben Daniels caught 7 passes for 136 yards and 2 touchdowns in a 41-10 win over Oologah. 

The Cardinals faced Booker T. Washington for the third time ever and the first time since 2011 in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs. The Hornets won 25-20 and improved to 3-0 against Collinsville. 

Coweta

Brock Heilmann rushed 44 times for 261 yards and all five of the Tigers touchdowns in a 34-32 loss to Prairie Grove, AR.

The Tigers host Prairie Grove, AR on September 19th. Prairie Grove defeated Coweta 34-32 in in 2024 and finished 7-5. The Tigers wre eliminated by Dardanelle in the 2nd round of the Arkansas Class 4A playoffs. 

Coweta began the 2024 season with six consecutive losses. That is the most consecutive losses to start the season since 1993 when the Tigers lost their first eight games.

Del City

Ricklan Holmes rushed 6 times for 122 yards and 2 touchdowns and made 10 tackles including one for loss in the Eagles 61-10 win over Collinsville. 

The Eagles defense has been flying high as of late. Del City shut out 7 opponents in 2024, the most ever in school history. The previous best mark for shutouts in a season was 5 in 2023 and 1962. 

Del City defeated Shawnee 31-0 in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs. It was the first meeting between the schools since 1983. Shawnee’s only win in the series came in 1972. 

Duncan

Duncan and Southeast will face off for the 20th time on October 3rd. The Demons have won ten in a row and 16 of the 19. 

Tavion Holland rushed 29 times for 206 yards and 2 touchdowns in the 49-42 win over Southeast. 

The Demons lost their seventh straight game to Shawnee 21-7. Duncan has not defeated teh Wolves since the 2004 season. 

Durant

Ada and Durant will meet for the 14th consecutive year in the season opener on August 29th. The Cougars have won five straight including 20-13 in 2024. 

The Lions were competitive in every game they played in 2024, dropping four games by one possession or less. Their biggest loss of the season was by 21 to Shawnee. 

Durant hasn’t made the state playoffs since 2011 and hasn’t won a game in the playoffs since beating East Central 33-7 in the 1994 Class 5A first round. 

East Central

East Central ended a nine game losing streak to Coweta, defeating the Tigers 28-25 in the season finale. It was the Cardinals first win in the series since 2013. 

Quarterback Ryder Munninger completed 26 or 35 passes for 368 yards and three touchdowns. Munninger also ran for a score in the Cardinals 70-28 loss to McAlester.

East Central last won the state championshp in 2005, defeating Bixby 9-7. Corey Taylor caught the game winning touchdown pass and ended the game with an interception to clinch the 5A gold ball. 

El Reno

El Reno and Altus face off for the 25th time on September 26th. The Indians have won five in a row to improve to 10-14 all-time against the Bulldogs in a series that dates to 1964.

The Indians were shutout in consecutive games by Carl Albert and Guthrie in 2024. It was the first time since the 1978 season El Reno had been blanked in back to back games. 

Antawan Grayson rushed 21 times for 213 yards and three touchdowns in the Indians 36-31 win over Altus. 

Guthrie

The Blue Jays beat Booker T. Washington 29-20 in the 2nd round of the Class 5A playoffs. It was the first win against Booker T. Washington since the 2002 Class 5A state championship won by Guthrie 16-13. 

Guthrie won 10 games in 2024. It was the fourth time in coach Kelly Beebe’s 11-year tenure the Blue Jays have hit the double digit win total. Beebe owns a record of 85-40 at Guthrie. 

Elijah Smith rushed 19 times for 147 yards and a touchdown in the Blue Jays 43-21 first round playoff win over Lawton MacArthur. 

John Marshall

John Marshall will open the season against Star Spencer. It’s the first game between the teams since 2013. The Bears have won 9 of the 11 meetings dating back to 1961. 

The Bears take on Southeast for the first time since 2007. John Marshall will be seeking to end a four game losing streak against the Spartans and their first win since 2001. 

Heritage Hall drops off the schedule for the first time in nine years. The Bears had lost four in a row to the Chargers and were outscored 177-6. 

Lawton 

Lawton has scored in 184 consecutive games. The Wolverines were last shutout 24-0 by Putnam North in 2008. 

The Wolverines have not won the state championship in football since 1987. Dewell Brewer rushed for 196 yards, completing a perfect 14-0 record and 28-0 win over Edmond. 

Lawton High will be looking to halt a four game losing streak against its city rivals. Lawton has an all-time record of 71-46 against Ike and Mac. 

Lawton Mac

Quarterback Aivan Locklin completed 8 of 10 passes for 149 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for another 86 yards in Mac’s 55-21 win over Eishenhower. 

MacArthur won the city championship for the second concsecutive season. It was the first time for the Highlanders to repeat as champions since 2016. Mac has won 9 of the last 20 city titles. 

Brett Manning will surpass his father in tenure this fall entering his 17th season as the head coach at MacArthur. Combined the father-son duo have a record of 256-120. Brett needs 31 wins to reel in Ron Hartline for the school record. 

McAlester

The Golden Buffaloes have made the playoffs in 17 of the last 19 years and six in a row. The Buffs have won 24 playoff games during that stretch. 

Jordan Clark rushed 13 times for 166 yards and three touchdowns and completed a pass for a touchdown in McAlester’s 70-28 win over East Central. 

McAlester and Shawnee will meet for the 41st time since 1954 on November 7th. The Buffaloes have won nine of the last 10 and have a 21-20 edge during that time span. 

Memorial

The Chargers are currently mired in the state’s third longest losing streak in 11-man football at 25 games. Cordell has the longest at 32 with Okmulgee second longest at 28. 

Memorial will be looking to break an 8-game losing streak to Claremore on October 24th. The Chargers last defeated the Zebras 27-22 in 2011. 

The Chargers last shutout an opponent on November 5th, 2021, blanking Nathan Hale 34-0. 

Midwest City

The Bombers were the last team to win the state’s largest classification from the OKC metro area. Midwest City beat Putnam North 31-14 in 1995. Quarterback Andy Collier threw for 3 touchdowns in the win. 

Theus McGuire is the defending Class 5A champion in the 110 and 300 meter hurdles, finishing with times of 14.75 and 39.48. 

Midwest City avenged a 2023 playoff loss to McGuinness with a 14-11 road win over the Irish on October 11th. The teams meet again this year at Rose Field on October 10th. 

Nathan Hale

The Rangers ended an eight game losing streak to Memorial with a resounding 48-0 shutout on September 27th. It was the first win for Hale in the series since 2010. 

Nathan Hale’s record of 3-7 was the best at the school since recording the same mark in 2010. 

The Rangers defeated Will Rogers 55-20 on October 25th. It was the most points scored in a game by a Nathan Hale team since beating Will Rogers 58-20 in 2010. 

Newcastle

TJ Bradford rushed 10 times for 162 yards and three touchdowns in the Racers 43-7 win over Midwest City. It was the first ever meeting between the teams. 

Newcastle claimed the Class 5A-District 1 championship in 2024. It was the school’s first district title since 2005, when the Racers were in Class 2A.

The Racers blasted Noble 63-14 in the first round of the playoffs. Newcastle had lost the four previous meetings with the Bears from 2016-2019. 

Noble  

Quarterback Jackson Steely completed all four of his passes for touchdowns, going 4-6 for 179 yards in the Bears 59-0 win over Western Heights. 

Blanchard took a 7-6 lead in the all-time series with Noble with a 49-0 victory in 2024. The teams met for the first time in 1962 and will play for the 6th consecutive season on September 5th.

Noble extended its winning streak over Altus to six with a 16-14 victory over the Bulldogs. The teams will meet for the eighth consecutive season on October 16th. 

Pryor

Pryor eliminated Bishop Kelley from the playoffs for the second time in four years. The Comets have won six consecutive regular season meetings between the teams. 

The Tigers ended a 12-game losing streak against Collinsville with a 37-36 triumph over the Cardinals. The teams will meet for the 15th straight season on October 24th. 

Quarterback Brandon Ward threw for 240 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 64 yards and another score in the Tigers 31-6 win over rival Claremore. 

Shawnee

Quarterback Zyron Campbell completed 17 of 27 passing for 186 yards and a touchdown while rushing for another score in the Wolves 20-14 win over Coweta. 

Cambpell’s efforts helped end a four game losing streak to Coweta and was the Wolves first win over the Tigers since 2014. 

The Wolves have dropped lost their last six games to Bishop Kelley. Shawnee’s last win against the Comets was 42-10 in 2013. 

Southeast

Ty Ball rushed 8 times for 80 yards and two touchdowns in the Spartans 42-0 win over Northwest Classen. 

Six-time pro bowler and Southeast alum Gerald McCoy can now be seen on the NFL Network on NFL Game Day Mornings Sunday’s during the season. 

The Spartans last playoff win was in the first win of the 1977 Class 3A playoffs. Southeast defeated Guthrie 24-7 before being eliminated by Duncan the following week. 

Tahlequah

Jake Girty carried the ball 22 times for 169 yards and three touchdowns in Tahlequah’s 40-12 season opening win over East Central. 

Tahelquah ended a two game losing streak to Sapulpa with a 24-14 win on September 6th. The teams will face off for the sixth straight year. The five previous meetings have been decided by 10 points or less. 

The Tigers have made the state finals one time in school history. Carl Albert won its first state title in 1989, downing Tahlequah 14-7. The Tigers were led by quarterback Dewayne Hammer and coached by Charles Cooper. 

Thomas Edison

Edison grad Iman Oats started all 12 games for Oklahoma State last year at defensive tackle. He was the District defensive POY in his last season at Edison. 

The Eagles took back control of the long running rivalry with Memorial, defeating the Chargers 25-14. Edison now holds a 27-26 advantage and has won 6 games in a row. 

Thomas Edison and Collinsville will meet for the fifth time on September 12th. Collinsville has won two in a row with the last Edison win coming in 2015, 28-13. 

Western Heights

Western Heights is just two wins shy of reaching the 200 mark in school history. 

Western Heights and John Marshall will meet for the tenth time on October 30th. The Bears ended a four game losing streak to the Jets with a 52-6 win. 

The Jets will be looking to end a six game losing streak to Noble. Western Heights last defeated the Bears in 2010. Noble has a 14-11 edge over the Jets in the series. 

Will Rogers

The Ropers will open the season against Holland Hall for the fourth consecutive time. Will Rogers will be looking to even the series at two after losing the last two games to the Dutch. 

Will Rogers faces Tahlequah for the 14th time on October 31st. The Ropers will be looking for their first win ever against the Tigers, losing the previous 13 dating back to 1994. 

The Ropers ended a seven game losing streak to Memorial with a 10-6 win, beating the Chargers for the first time since 2001.

6A

Bixby

Carson Kirby completed 32 of 44 passes for 432 yards and three touchdowns in the Spartans 50-10 win over Sand Springs on September 6th. 

Bixby has won seven state championships in a row between Class 6A Division I and Division II. The only other Oklahoma school to win seven in a row is Morrison in Class B from 1988-1994.

Bixby has scored 50 or more points in 49 of its last 76 games. The Spartans were last shutout in 2017 at Booker T. Washington 21-0.

Broken Arrow

Broken Arrow allowed 36.9 points per game on defense in 2024, the most in any season in school history. 

Octavian Robertson had 22 touches for a combined 188 total yards and three touchdowns in the Tigers 49-14 win over Westmoore. 

Quarterback Jeramiah Ssettimba completed 25 of 39 times for 325 yards and three touchdowns in the Tigers 49-48 loss to Mustang. 

Deer Creek

Wide receiver Jalen Davis caught 7 passes for 104 yards and a touchdown in the Antlers 30-20 win over the Moore Lions. 

In their first year in the state’s largest class, the Antlers defeated the state’s largest school, Broken Arrow, 21-19 in their first and only meeting. 

Wide receiver Gage Gibbons won the Class 6A 100 meter dash this past spring with a time of 10.71

Edmond

Edmond defeated Union 32-29 ending a 12-game losing streak to the RedHawks. It was the first win for the Bulldogs since a 27-20 first round playoff win in 1993. 

Wide receiver Isaac Woodward caught 5 passes for 91 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-7 win over Santa Fe. It was the largest margin of victory for the Bulldogs in the history of the series dating to 1996. 

Edmond Memorial’s nine wins in 2024 were the most in a season since 1993 when the Bulldogs finished 10-2 for head coach Paul Potter. 

Edmond North

Edmond North shutout Putnam West 52-0 in the 2024 season opener. It was North’s first shutout since a 28-0 blanking of Putnam North on September 27th of 2013. 

Edmond North will open the 2025 season against Farmington, AR. Farmington finished 11-3 in 2024 and runner up in Class 5A, losing 61-21 to Little Rock Parkview in the state championship. 

Zay Robinson posted 23 carries for 150 yards and a touchdown in the Huskies 41-35 win at Edmond Santa Fe on September 6th. 

Edmond Santa Fe

Wide receiver Maliki Davis caught 9 passes for 139 yards and a 74-yard touchdown in a 41-35 loss to cross-town rival Edmond North. 

The Edlam rivalry has been in existance since 1996. Santa Fe has won 14 championships with Memorial taking 8 and North winning 6. The teams split the meetings in 1998. 

The Wolves will be looking to end a six game losing streak to Owasso on October 24th. The last three contests have all been decided by six points or less. 

Enid

Keon Young scored a pair of defensive touchdowns against Mustang. Young returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown and 75 yards for a second touchdown in a 33-32 loss to the Broncos. 

The Plainsmen have dropped 13 straight games to Jenks, including back-to-back shutouts the past two seasons. Enid last defeated Jenks 6-3 in the first round of the 1991 state playoffs. 

Enid dropped a tough one point decision to Mustang on October 4th. It was the first meeting between the teams since 2006. The Broncos have won three of the five in the series. 

Jenks

Jenks defeated Union 42-7, eliminating the RedHawks from the playoffs in the second round. It was the largest margin of victory for the Trojans against Union since a 48-3 thumping in 1980. 

Kadin Jones was a big part of that playoff win over Union, rushing 22 times for 203 yards and four touchdowns. Jones also added 38 yards receiving. 

Jenks has finished with a winning record in 36 consecutive seasons, the longest active streak in Oklahoma 11-man football. 

Moore

The Lions ended a three game losing streak to Enid with a 38-0 win in the regular season finale. It was the first win for Moore in the series since a 16-7 conquest in 1992. 

Running back Ozias Adams rushed 31 times for 164 yards and a touchdown in the Lions 21-20 win over Mustang to open district play. 

Moore has only played for the state championship once in school history. The Lions came up just short in 1984, dropping a 14-10 decision to Booker T. Washington for the Class 5A title.

Mustang

Mustang has scored in 195 consecutive games, the longest active streak in Class 6A-Division I. The Broncos suffered their last shutout loss 37-0 to Moore in 2007. 

Mustang is 0-2 all-time in state championship games, losing to Union 33-7 in the 2005 Class 6A championship and Ada 10-3 in the 1980 Class 3A championship.

Norman High transfer Ryder Murphy torched rival Norman North in the Crosstown Clash last year, catching 7 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns. 

Norman

Crew Noles caught six passes for 155 yards and a touchdown and added 33 more on the ground, including another touchdown in the Tigers 42-35 win at Moore. 

Norman High’s record of 10-2 was the best at the school since finishing with the same mark in 1997. It was the sixth doulbe digit winning season dating back to 1957, 

The Tigers won 31-20 at Bixby on November 8th. It was the Spartans first home setback to a team from the west side of the state since a 37-29 loss to Westmoore in 2013. 

Norman North

Wide receiver Bryce Collier played a big role against the Timberwolves last year catching 4 passes for 186 yards and a touchdown for Westmoore in a 27-24 Jags win. 

Mason James caught 11 passes for 222 yards and five touchdowns in Norman North’s 64-54 loss to Owasso. 

The Timberwolves four game winning streak against Moore came to a halt during the regular season. North bounced back to eliminate the Lions from the playoffs and have now won 17 of the last 20 in the series. 

Owasso

The Rams defeated Jenks twice in the same season for only the second time in history. Owasso has won six of the last 8 meetings with the Trojans and three in a row. 

Owasso finished the regular season unbeaten for the third time in the last six seasons. The three previous unbeaten regular seasons were 1986, 1972 and 1967. 

Quarterback Drew Frankenfield completed 15 of 18 passes for 274 yards and three touchdowns in the Rams 48-17 win over Sand Springs. 

Union

Tayveon Parry-Straight ran for 231 yards and four touchdowns in the RedHawks 56-27 win over Norman North. 

Union will put a seven game winning streak on the line when it faces Broken Arrow on October 24th. The RedHawks are 46-7 all-time against the Tigers. 

After losing to Union in the season opener, Bentonville, AR streaked all the way to the Arkansas Class 7A finals, losing to Bryant 28-23. The Tigers finished with a record of 9-4. 

Westmoore

Westmoore and Yukon will meet for the 12th consecutive season. The Jags have won three in a row and 10 of those 12 games. 

Westmoore has won 10 of the 17 Moore War Championships since the three-way split in 2008. The Jags dropped both games against Moore Public school rivals in 2024 for the first time ever. 

The Jaguars ended a four game losing streak to Norman North with a 27-24 win on October 24th. Westmoore has won 14 of the 22 meetings with the Timberwolves. 

Yukon

Running back Destry Lujan carried 23 times for 115 yards and a touchdown in the Millers 28-27 win over Santa Fe, ending a four-game losing streak to the Wolves. 

Yukon has lost its last seven meetings to arch rival Mustang. It’s the longest losing streak in the history of the series which is led by the Broncos 33-20. 

Yukon and Putnam City will meet for the 35th time on August 29th. The Millers have won the last three but trail the Pirates 22-12 in the history of the series. 

Bartlesville

Sutton Williams careed the ball 22 times for for 105 yards and two touchdowns in the Bruins 40-9 win over Putnam West. 

Bartlesville defeated Ponca City 30-20 ending a two-game losing streak to the Wildcats and extending its all-time series lead to 21-18. 

The Bruins take on Claremore for the 8th consecutive season. Four of the last seven games have been decided by a touchdown or less with Bartlesville owning a 4-3 edge. 

Capitol Hill

Quarterback Don Van Pool led Capitol Hill to a perfect 12-0 season, winning the 1949 Class A Championship 28-14 over Seminole. 

The Red Wolves will open the season against Douglass. Capitol Hill has lost its last nine games to the Trojans last tasting victory in 1978. 

Capitol Hill is 7-10 all-time against Putnam City. The teams first met in 1944 with Capitol Hill winning the first seven. Putnam City has won the last ten beginning in 1965.

Choctaw

After finishig runner-up in 2020 and 2022, the Yellowjackets captured the Class 6A-Division II state championship. It was Choctaw’s second state title in football with the last coming in 1960. 

Hays, KS hops on the schedule in 2025. The Yellowjackets will take the five hour ride to face the Indians on September 12th. Hays finished 8-5 in 2024 and Class 5A state runner-up. 

Mayor Morgan had 19 carries for 241 yards and three touchdowns in Choctaw’s 56-40 win over Piedmont. 

Lawton Ike

Eisenhower improved to 7-0 all-time against US Grant. The Eagles have outscored the Generals 304-19 in the last five matchups dating back to 1981. 

Eisenhower avenged its only previous defeat to Southmoore in the 2009 playoffs with a 42-35 victory over the Sabercats at Cameron Stadium on October 4th. 

Ike lost its fifth straight to Choctaw 59-14. The Eagles still maintain an all-time 10-5 lead in the series winning the first ten from 1996 to 2011. 

Muskogee

Muskogee owns a record of 33-5 the past three seasons. It is the best record in school history over that time period. 

The Roughers scored more than 40 points in 8 of their 13 games and shutout five different opponents in 2024. That’s the most shutouts in a season since Ron Freeman’s team shutout five in 1991. 

Muskogee defeated all three Putnam City schools in 2024 by a combined margin of 101-0. Putnam City Original is the only school to defeat the Roughers from the district doing so in 2012. 

Northwest Classen

The Knights have won a district game in each of the last three seasons. Northwest knocked off US Grant 20-8 to claim its lone district win in 2024.

Northwest Classen secured its only state football championship in 1959 at Taft Stadium. Walt Lawson returned a fumble 66 yards for a touchdown to beat Norman High 16-14. 

Northwest Classen last defeated Choctaw 7-0 in 1990. The Yellowjackets have won four straight in the series including 57-0 in 2024. 

Piedmont

Piedmont defeated Midwest City for the second consecutive time, shutting out the Bombers 13-0 in the season opener. That game was in stark contrast to the previous meetings when the teams combined for 101 points. 

Piedmont advanced in a battle of Wildcats, getting the best of Ponca City 48-7 in the first round of the playoffs. It was the first ever meeting between the teams. 

The Wildcats and El Reno Indians will play for the 11th time in 10 years on September 5th. Piedmont has won four straight in the series including a 27-14 victory last year. 

Putnam City

Putnam City has won three of the last four Putnam City championships and five of the last ten overall. 

The Pirates are currently on a five game losing streak to Choctaw. The teams will meet for the 44th time on October 3rd in a series that began in 1982. The Pirates lead 23-10.

Rodgerick Sloan carried the ball 30 times for 192 yards and a touchdown in the Pirates 28-14 win over Southmoore. 

Putnam North

The Panthers finished 8-4 in 2024 and won eight games for just the third time in a season since 2007. 

Quaterback Mason Jones completed 24 of 35 for 269 yards and a touchdown in the Panthers 41-26 loss to Sand Springs. 

Putnam North defeated Southmoore in both the regular season and the playoffs, extending its winning streak to three against the Sabercats. North leads the all-time series 8-4. 

Putnam West

Putnam West was shut out a Class 6A-Division II high of 6 times in 2024. The Patriots did manage a score in their final three games. 

The Southeast Spartans replace Edmond North on the Patriots schedule in the season opener. It’s the first ever meeting between the teams in football. 

Putnam West will host Midwest City for the first time ever on campus. It will be the 29th meeting between the teams. Midwest City has won 13 in a row with the last Putnam West victory coming in 1990. 

Ponca City

Ponca City will be looking for revenge against former Frontier Conference rival Sapupla when the teams square off on October 16th. Sapulpa has won four of the last 5 against the Wildcats. 

The Wildcats have dropped 9 of the last 10 and five in a row to long-time rival Enid. The Plainsmen will travel to Ponca City for the season opener on August 29th. 

Ponca City has never won the state championship in football. The Wildcats did reach the state finals twice, losing to Enid 34-6 in 1965 and Ada 20-13 in 1951. 

Sand Springs

Sand Springs and Bartlesville High will meet for the 50th time on September 26th. The Sandites have won five in a row vs. the Bruins but trail 27-22 in series history. 

Wide receiver Dom Forbes was huge in last season’s win over Bartlesville, catching 6 passes for 176 yards and four touchdowns. 

Quarterback Easton Webb completed 21 of 32 passes for 447 yards and four touchdowns in Sand Springs 38-3 win over Bishop Kelley.  

Sapulpa

Sapulpa and Sand Springs will meet for the 100th time in 2025. The teams have played every year since 1930. The Sandites have won 10 of the last 11 and lead teh series 48-46-5

Sapulpa and Bartlesville play for the 12th consecutive season on October 3rd. Sapulpa has won seven in a row against the Bruins to seize a 21-19 all-time advantage. 

Levi Jensen ran 13 times for 223 yards and 2 touchdowns in the Chieftains 46-31 win over Lawton Eisenhower. 

Southmoore

The Sabercats ended a nine game losing streak to Westmoore, defeating the Jaguars for the first time since 2015. The season opening win ended a 19-game losing streak overall. 

Quarterback Taven Hayes threw two touchdown passes, including the game winner in his first varsity game to earn the 17-14 streak ender against the Jaguars. 

Southmoore has dropped four straight to Moore. The Sabercats will be looking to draw even in the all-time series at 9, when they host the Lions for the first time ever on their campus on September 12th. 

 Stillwater

The Pioneers opened the 2024 season with a dramatic 36-35 win over Union. The victory turned the tide on Union’s 17-game winning streak in the series. 

Stillwater improved to 3-0 all-time vs. Southmoore, pounding the SaberCats 58-0. They have won the meetings by a combined score of 173-15. 

Defensive back Peyton Campbell intercepted four passes, leading a stellar defensive effort in the Pioneers 28-7 win over Putnam City. 

U.S. Grant

Capitol Hill is the longest running rival on the US Grant schedule. Over the last twenty meetings, Capitol Hill owns an 11-9 edge and won last year 19-12. 

The Generals will be looking for their second win against Putnam City on October 16th. US Grant last defeated the Pirates in 1980, 29-28

Ninth year head coach Alex Levescy will pass Bob Davis and Dean Choate on the Generals all-time wins list with his next victory.
