Haskell’s Jagger Lewis – Athlete Spotlight

Haskell High School junior Jagger Lewis approaches athletics with a mindset rooted in faith, perseverance and continuous improvement. A two-sport athlete in baseball and football, Lewis embraces the challenges of competition while developing qualities he believes will serve him well beyond his playing days.

Some of his favorite memories have come as part of successful teams. Lewis helped Haskell capture a regional baseball championship and contributed to a football team that reached the state playoffs. While the victories stand out, he values the hard work and teamwork that made them possible.

“One of my biggest accomplishments has been winning regionals in baseball and helping my football team advance to the state playoffs,” Lewis said. “Those experiences showed me what can be accomplished through hard work, dedication and teamwork. They are memories I’ll always be proud of.”

Athletics have also shaped Lewis’ character. He said sports have taught him resilience, discipline, leadership and a strong work ethic, lessons that extend well beyond the field.

“Sports have taught me to never give up when things get difficult,” Lewis said. “They’ve helped me develop discipline, resilience, leadership and a strong work ethic that I carry with me every day.”

Lewis plans to attend college after graduation, whether or not athletics are part of that journey. His goal is to earn a degree, build a successful career and continue living by the values he has developed through sports.

In the classroom, Lewis credits Ms. Satterfield with making a lasting impact.

“My favorite teacher is Ms. Satterfield because she always knows how to brighten the classroom and make learning enjoyable,” he said. “Her positive attitude and encouragement have made a lasting impact on me, and she genuinely cares about her students.”

Lewis also values the friendships athletics have provided. He said teammate and longtime best friend Elias Gonzalez has influenced him both as an athlete and as a person.

“We’ve been best friends for the past 10 to 11 years,” Lewis said. “He’s always pushed me to become a better athlete, teammate and person. We challenge each other to work harder, stay focused and never settle for less than our best.”

Growing up in Haskell has also shaped Lewis’ outlook. He appreciates the town’s close-knit atmosphere and believes living in a small community carries the responsibility of representing both yourself and your family with pride.

“My favorite thing about Haskell is the close-knit community,” he said. “Everyone knows one another, and people genuinely support each other.”

Above all, Lewis credits his faith as the foundation of everything he does.

“First and foremost, I’d like to thank God, my Lord and Savior,” he said. “I know that without Him, none of this would be possible.”

He also expressed gratitude to his mother, father, grandmother and aunt for their unwavering support throughout his journey. Looking ahead, Lewis hopes to continue honoring God, making his family proud and representing Haskell High School with integrity. Whether his future includes college athletics or another path, he is determined to work hard, earn his degree and make the most of every opportunity.
