When you talk to Logan Markou, it becomes clear that the foundation of his basketball journey at Gore High School is built on people—those who challenge him, believe in him, and stand beside him every day. He’s quick to point toward the mentors who shaped him, saying, “Coach Estes and coach Lewis have been my favorite coaches because they truly love and care. They have also pushed me to be the best version of myself on and off the court.”
That same appreciation extends to the teammates who grind with him through every drill, sprint, and late-night bus ride. “I admire and appreciate all of my teammates,” Logan says. “Closest to me are Cain Cooper, Tate Brooksher, Gabe Hefley, Eli Munson, Benson Hunt, Cruz Ward and Keeton Rowe.” Their bond is a major part of what motivates him, and his favorite high school basketball memory reflects that closeness. “My favorite memory is our OKC trip over Christmas break. The team travels there for a Thunder game and to scrimmage local teams. Spending this time together helps us bond.”
In the classroom, Logan is just as determined to push himself. He credits one teacher for setting the tone academically. “Mr. Reading has been my favorite teacher. He’s been influential by pushing me in class and setting a great example.”
On the court, Logan has been intentional about developing his game and conditioning. “I have worked to get into better shape physically and mentally. I’m pushing myself to hustle and work hard on the court.” Basketball has offered more than athletic growth—it’s taught him lessons that stretch far beyond the seasons. “Basketball continues to teach me two main themes applicable to daily life; communication and teamwork.”
As the new season approaches, Logan isn’t focused on one particular opponent. “I’m not excited for any specific matchup; I am ready to get the season started.” He also has personal goals in mind, noting, “An individual accomplishment I’m aiming for is scoring 20 points in a single game.”
Looking ahead, Logan already has a vision for life after high school. “My plans after high school graduation are college pursuing a career in finance or accounting.”
