Gore’s Antonio Parker – Football Spotlight – Presented by DTC Barns and Buildings LLC

Gore senior lineman Antonio Parker had what you might say was an accidental introduction to football. “We had moved here when I was in the third grade and the little league team didn’t have enough players to make a team, so they reached out to my mom and I ended playing and that’s how I started,’ said Parker who also does powerlifting and throws the shot and discus for the Pirate track team. He’s also a wrestler which has really helped him in football according to coach Brandon Ellis. “He’s one of the seniors on the team that was on that team that went to the state championship game in 2022. He’s a hard worker that just loves the game of football and he’s tough as nails. His wrestling has really helped him transform his body this past year and he’s slimmed down some but is stronger. He’s a smart player that knows the playbook inside and out and helps us get right on the line.”

He plays on both the offensive and defensive line for the Pirates but says he prefers being on the defensive side. “I like to hit people, and defense is less confusing for me and gives me more of a chance to really hit people.” In that magical year of going to state, Antonio has a fond memory. “I remember the game against Pocola. It was a fun game because they talked so much trash and we were underdogs going in, but we beat them, and I had a pretty good game blocking of offense.” Growing up one of his role models was former pro defensive lineman Aaron Donald. “He was just really good,” said Parker. As a senior leader, Antonio says he strives to be even handed. “I try to be on everyone’s side and get everyone under control and to do the right thing. I tell them to have fun but be serious when we need to be.” After he graduates Parker says he would like to be remembered as someone who worked hard and tried to help keep the team energy up. He plans to go into the HVAC field after graduation.
