OUTLOOK
The Gore Lady Pirates are set to tackle the season with a blend of young talent and experienced leadership. “This year, we have a young team, but we have a lot of talent,” head coach Mike Randolph said. The offense will be anchored by junior pitcher Cheyenne Davidson, who is expected to make significant contributions both in the circle and at the plate. “We have several girls who swing the bat well, and we have great team chemistry. These girls are ready to come out and compete this season,” Randolph added. Senior outfielder Peyton Curran and infielder Ricki Huckbay will also be key players in the lineup, providing stability and power. Returning starters, including Kennedy Williams (OF) and River Shoemake (IF), will add depth and experience to the offensive strategy.
Defensively, the Lady Pirates will rely heavily on the skills of their junior pitcher, Cheyenne Davidson. “Cheyenne is a crucial part of our defense and I expect big things from her this season,” Randolph emphasized. The infield will be fortified by Ricki Huckbay, who will play both shortstop and third base, showcasing her versatility and leadership. “She led the team last year in batting avg. with a .371. She excels not only on the field, but also in the classroom. She is the kid that every coach wants on their team. I expect big things from Ricki this season,” Randolph said. Junior Emily Daily will cover the crucial shortstop position this season for Gore, with her coach praising her versatility. “She will catch and play shortstop for us this season,” Randolph said. “She is super-fast and is great at the plate.” The outfield will see strong performances from sophomores Sophie O’Connor, Victoria Scott and Keira Rowe, all known for their speed and outfield prowess. “Sophie is one of our returning starters from last year. She swings the bat well, has great speed on the bases and a high softball IQ. She had a .356 batting average last year as a freshman. She is one of the toughest kids that I have ever coached, and I expect her to be one of the keys to our success this season and in upcoming years,” Randolph mentioned. With returning starters and a focus on teamwork, the Lady Pirates are poised to improve their defensive game and make a solid impact this season.
