FORT GIBSON TIGERS
Coach: Todd Dickerson
23-24 Record: 18-10
Fort Gibson will enter the 2024-25 campaign with the “eye of the Tiger” focused on making the most of their opportunities revolving around the no-quit efforts of four starters from last year’s 18-win campaign.
Head coach Todd Dickerson’s lineup will create challenges for the Tigers’ opponents thanks to the balance of experience, size and athleticism. The Tigers’ coach will put the ball into the confident hands of point guard Brody Scott (5-9, So.), a VYPE Top 100 nominee who connected on 61-percent of his field goal opportunities including 41-percent plus from the perimeter while dishing out 142 assists to set up teammates for high percentage scoring chances. One of the “big reasons” for optimism is the skills of VYPE Top 100 pick Cooper Hackett (6-8, So.) whose presence in the paint produced 6.1 rebounds and 35 blocks in addition to totaling 8.0 points per game during his freshman campaign. Veteran Cooper Crawley (6-0, Sr.) brings leadership to the court along with Ky Murrell (5-10, So.) who adds another scoring threat this season after averaging 10.0 points per contest in his rookie campaign. Cash Keys (5-11, So.), who moved into the Tigers den from Sequoyah Tahlequah adds another scoring threat this season.
“With four starters back on the court from last year’s area tournament team, we can take advantage of the game experience and familiarity of playing 5-as-1 every night coupled with non-stop energy to give us the opportunity to win,” said Dickerson.
Developing depth off the bench will be another key for the Tigers game plan that Dickerson looks to involve the contributions of Connor Smith (6-3, Sr.) and Connor Lindsay (6-2, Jr.) as upperclassmen while Mattix Laney (6-3, So.), Nico Ford (6-0, So.), Kobe Nunez (5-10, So.) and Dawson Steveson (6-2, Fr.) battle for minutes on the floor.
“We’re still young, but these kids are determined to prove they can compete every time the ball hits the floor,” said Dickerson.
