Jordan Johnson recently won the statewide vote for Fan’s Choice Miss Basketball Oklahoma. VYPE wanted to help you get to know her better!
VYPE: What grade are you in, and what sports do you play?
Jordan: I am a senior at Stigler High School, and I play basketball and softball.
VYPE: Who are some of your biggest influences or role models?
Jordan: My family all together are the biggest influence and role models. They’re always pushing me to be my best.
VYPE: What teacher has had the biggest impact on your life?
Jordan: The greatest teacher of all, Jesus. He’s taught me so much more than any teacher could.
VYPE: What motivates you?
Jordan: My competitiveness, I hate to lose.
VYPE: What has it taken to be successful in your sports?
Jordan: It’s taken a lot of hard work and dedication. You have to be willing to listen and learn from your mistakes to be successful. Before you’re successful, you fail.
VYPE: What has been the highlight moment of your career?
Jordan: Everything in my career was a highlight moment, whether it be a bad game or a great game. Everytime I stepped on the court, I made sure to give it my all, and that makes every moment a highlight in my career.
VYPE: Is there an opponent that you enjoy beating the most?
Jordan: An opponent I enjoy beating the most is the opponents that think we can’t beat them. The teams that overlook us are the teams I love to beat.
VYPE: What does it mean to you to represent your school and community when you play?
Jordan: Representing my school has always been important to me because people are always watching you, especially the little kids. It’s important to be a good role model and a good kid.
VYPE: What does it take to balance your school work and the activities you are involved in?
Jordan: It’s hard being a student athlete but it’s also very rewarding knowing you played sports all your high school career and kept good grades.
VYPE: Anything else you would like to share?
Jordan: All glory to God! None of this would be possible without Him. I’m also incredibly thankful for the constant love and support of my family, who’ve been with me every step of the way.
