The path to becoming a dependable offensive lineman rarely comes with much attention, but for Eufaula High School senior Trevor Dodd, that’s never been the point. Heading into his final season, Dodd is focused on doing the work that allows everyone around him to succeed, a mindset shaped by family, teammates and years of learning the value of discipline.
One of Dodd’s biggest influences has been his older brother, Ty, whose football journey continues at East Central University while pursuing his college degree.
“Ty Dodd, my brother, inspires me,” Dodd said. “He played football at Eufaula and is still playing at ECU in Ada while getting his degree.”
Seeing his brother continue both his athletic and academic career has given Dodd a clear example of what dedication looks like beyond high school.
As Eufaula’s left tackle, with the ability to slide over to right tackle when needed, Dodd understands that success in the trenches demands more than strength. Offensive linemen must communicate, adjust and execute on every snap while facing some of the toughest defenders on the field. For Dodd, consistency is the biggest challenge, but it’s also what makes the position rewarding.
Over the years, football has taught him lessons that reach far beyond Friday nights.
“Discipline and working with others,” Dodd said, are the biggest lessons the game has given him.
Those values are reflected in the relationships he has built with his teammates. More than anything, Dodd treasures the bond created through countless practices, workouts and games.
“We became family,” he said. “I love how we get along and help each other when needed.”
One of Dodd’s favorite football memories came during an overtime victory against Tahlequah Sequoyah, a game that showcased the resilience of the Ironheads. He also remembers a difficult moment from middle school when a teammate suffered a broken leg, an experience that reminded him how quickly the game can change and how important it is to support one another.
Away from football, Dodd stays active in student council and enjoys spending time outdoors with friends. Whether he’s fishing or hunting, he appreciates the opportunity to slow down, with the dock at Sammy’s Surf Shop serving as one of his favorite places to cast a line.
As his senior season begins, Dodd hopes to leave behind more than victories. His steady approach, willingness to put the team first and commitment to doing the little things have already established the kind of legacy every offensive lineman strives for.
