Eufaula’s Briley Gragg – Athlete Spotlight

Eufaula High School senior Briley Gragg has learned that some of the biggest moments in athletics come from embracing the unexpected. Whether it was celebrating a postseason victory as a freshman or stepping into an unfamiliar position as an upperclassman, softball has consistently challenged her to grow both on and off the field.

Gragg, who will be a senior this school year, has dedicated her athletic career to softball. One of her favorite memories came during her freshman season when Eufaula advanced in the postseason at Super Regionals in Valliant. She still remembers the excitement of watching the final out.

“There were two outs, our pitcher struck the girl at the plate out, everyone went crazy and we rushed the field and had a huge dog pile on her,” Gragg said. “Even though I was so young, just being able to witness that and cheer them on from the side was amazing for me.”

That experience reinforced the value of being part of something bigger than herself, a lesson that has continued to shape her throughout high school.

Gragg said softball has taught her to approach every challenge with determination, even when the outcome is uncertain.

“I might not know how to do something, but I’ll do it going 100%,” she said. “It’s helped me have a better attitude when things get hard.”

Her willingness to embrace challenges was put to the test during her junior year. During preseason scrimmages, she was unexpectedly moved from the outfield to second base, a position she had never played.

“I was nervous, but I ended up staying there all year and having a lot of fun,” Gragg said. “I’m thankful to Coach Green for trusting me to play that position and helping me through it.”

Gragg credits several people for shaping her journey. Her junior-year math teacher, Mrs. Mann, encouraged her academically while always making time to listen and help students through difficult days. She also points to teammate Leah Green, whose positive attitude and steady encouragement have helped keep the team focused during challenging games.

Outside of athletics, Gragg stays involved in National Honor Society, Link Crew, Student Council, Yearbook and Shiloh Assembly of God. Away from school, her favorite place is Lake Eufaula, where she enjoys spending time on the boat with family and friends.

Gragg also credits her parents and coach Ryan Green for helping her become the athlete and person she is today. Their constant support, encouragement and belief in her have taught her that growth comes from perseverance, trust and the willingness to embrace every opportunity.
