EUFAULA CHEER
It’s been a pretty nice year so for the Eufaula cheer team as described by coach Lori Curtis.
“We went to state for the first time in Class 4A in the OSSAA cheer competition this year so we’re proud of that. We have 22 girls on the squad with six seniors, five juniors, seven sophomores and four freshmen.”
Two of the girls that Curtis has highlighted are Faith Graham and Asyah Holley.
“Faith has cheered for me for three years and Asyah for two and they are both great assets to our team. They’re always willing to help out and they’re best friends and both are straight A students.”
So VYPE asked a few questions of the girls starting with how they got started in cheer.
Asyah: “I’ve been cheering off and on since I was 11 and I figured that cheering in high school would give me more opportunities to cheer in college.”
Faith: “I moved here from Colorado in seventh grade and started cheering in eighth grade. I was in dance when I was young and always looked up to the cheer leaders and that’s what got me interested.”
VYPE: Obviously making state this year has to be highlight for you so talk about that.
Asyah: “I really liked the practices leading up to state and going to state as well. We really got closer and bonded together as a team.”
Faith: “Going to state was a lot of fun and they made us feel really great about ourselves and the work we put into the routine.”
Both girls are members of the National Honor Society and look forward to cheering for all of the upcoming winter sports.
Other members of the Eufaula cheer squad are Sydney Schiffli, Gracie Burke, Cierra McGuire, Kunawv Kaulaity, Helena Williams, Paige Coppick, Carissa Igney, Zayona Price, Payton Oden, McKinley Rea, Mattie Rodebush, Rayleigh Houston, London Wingo, Kayleigh Kammer, Alyson McNeely, Ashtyn Harjo, Natalya Lee, Savannah Clark and Gia Meza.
