Coach: COURTNEY GREEN
7-20
Vian enters the 2026 season believing better days are ahead. After a challenging 7-20 campaign, second-year head coach Courtney Green has seen steady growth throughout the offseason and believes the Lady Wolverines are positioned to take a significant step forward. A large senior class provides leadership and experience, while a talented group of younger players has impressed throughout the summer, giving the program confidence that the pieces are in place for a more competitive season. Green says the team has shown considerable improvement and is eager to put that progress on display when the season begins.
Leading the way is senior Eden Girty, a versatile player whose value extends well beyond any one position. Green describes Girty as a player with tremendous heart and grit, someone who has persevered through adversity and continues to lead by example. Whether she’s asked to play in the infield, outfield or anywhere else the team needs her, Girty embraces the challenge and gives maximum effort every time she takes the field. Her leadership and selfless approach will be critical as the Lady Wolverines look to build consistency throughout the season.
Junior Lakota Cheater is another key piece of the lineup. Expected to bat cleanup, Cheater will split time between first base and center field, showcasing her versatility while providing a steady presence in the heart of the order. Green believes Cheater’s competitive mindset separates her, noting her determination to find ways to help the Lady Wolverines win and predicting she will make a major impact this season.

The future is bright as well, thanks in part to freshman Joely Hunt. Already showing exceptional talent during summer competition, Hunt is expected to contribute immediately at both shortstop and catcher. Her athleticism and poise have impressed the coaching staff, and she gives Vian another promising building block for both this season and the years ahead.
Every successful team also needs players who bring energy beyond the stat sheet, and senior Sidney Cox fills that role for the Lady Wolverines. Green calls Cox the heart of the team, praising her positive attitude, steady improvement and ability to keep spirits high during difficult moments. Combined with a veteran core and an emerging group of young contributors, Vian believes it has the leadership, depth and determination to make noticeable strides throughout the 2026 season.
