The Stigler boys golf team heads into the upcoming season with a young lineup, but one that features a proven competitor at the top and a promising newcomer ready to make an immediate impact. Head coach Tyler Guthrie knows his squad will rely heavily on leadership and development as the year unfolds.
“We have one returner in Colt Falconer who made the 4A State Tournament last year as an individual,” Guthrie said. “We will be very inexperienced; however, we have an incoming freshmen Carter Shepherd that will be a huge help.”
Falconer’s experience at the state level provides Stigler with a steady presence and a high ceiling as the team looks to grow.
“Colt is extremely talented and hits the ball a mile,” Guthrie said. “He is very dedicated to his craft and is ready to make a jump this year to compete for a state championship.”
Falconer’s background in the sport has helped shape his approach and mindset on the course, and his pedigree reflects the tradition Stigler golf has built over the years.
“He is the son of a former 3A State Champion Todd Falconer,” Guthrie said.
Joining Falconer is freshman Carter Shepherd, who steps into varsity competition with strong family ties to the program and a reputation for putting in the work.
“Carter is a talented freshman who really puts in the time,” Guthrie said. “His dad was also a former state championship, and his grandpa was the golf coach here at Stigler for several years.”
Shepherd’s work ethic and familiarity with the program have made his transition an exciting one for the Panthers as they prepare for the spring season.
“He has a good pedigree, and we are looking forward to seeing him compete this spring,” Guthrie said.
With Falconer returning from a state appearance and Shepherd emerging as a key underclassman, Stigler’s boys golf team is focused on gaining experience and building toward future success. Though young, the Panthers are anchored by talent, dedication, and a strong connection to the program’s past — setting the stage for growth throughout the season.
