2025 Warner Eagles – Basketball Preview – Presented by Cross

WARNER

Expectations are on the rise in Eagle land this season for both the Warner boys’ and girls’ basketball teams. After a 2024-25 season that saw both teams end up on the negative side of the win/loss ledger, both teams return at least four starters from those squads which will add an important experience factor for both.

The girls were 7-19 last year but return all five starters that includes a pair of VYPE TOP 100 nominees in Kambree Ellis (6-0, Sr.) and Adysen Dishman (5-7, Sr.).

“Last year we were inexperienced and young, but we got better every game and continued to improve over this past summer,” said coach Mindi Peters. “We have everyone back from last year including Kambree and Adysen. Both of these young ladies are leaders for our team with an excellent work ethic.”

In addition to those two, Peters is excited to watch freshman Paisley Labounty (5-6) who made a name for herself on the softball diamond this fall.

“Paisley is as competitive as they come. She plays with a lot of heart and grit and is not afraid of a challenge. She’s a point guard that will be a big help to us this season.”

There are four seniors on the team that will provide leadership including Dishman, Ellis, Stormi Lynch (5-4) and Ava Peters (5-9).

“Ava is a leader on and off the court that the others look up to,” said Peters. “She is a six-sport athlete who is kind to everyone, always has a smile on her face and is constantly lifting up those around her.”

The Lady Eagles have good depth that includes juniors Ella Labounty, Isabella Henson, Zoey Armstrong, Abby Marks, Emercyn Baldridge and Addison Upton. Sophomores are also well represented with Jacie Teague, Paycee Siebert, Aubri Franco and Kylee Crow. Freshmen Paizley Rock and Londyn Girty complete the roster.

The guys were 6-17 last year but, like the girls return a nucleus of four starters led by brothers Jaxson (6-1, Sr.) and Rylan (6-4, So.) Cash who was a VYPE Newcomer of the Year last year averaging 11 points and five rebounds a game.

“Jaxson is a VYPE TOP 100 pick this year and is a four-year starter for us,” said coach Anthony Porter. “He averaged 18 points a game last year and has a basketball IQ far beyond his years. He not only asks the best from his teammates but is also right there beside them doing what needs to be done to achieve success. He is 4.0 GPA student and is at the top of his class.”

Several others will play important roles for the Eagles this year including James Jones (6-1, Sr.), Talon Longshore (6-3, Sr.), Dee Antwine (6-4, Jr.), Memphis Swimmer (6-0, Jr.), Ethan Glover (5-8, Jr.) and Haeden Morris (5-8, So.). Rounding out the Eagle roster are Roman Carter (6-0, Sr.) and Jackson Foreman (5-10, Jr.).
