2025 Muskogee Roughers Football Preview – Presented by York Street Tire

MUSKOGEE ROUGHERS

Coach: DALE CONDICT

12-1

OFFENSE

Despite the loss of a generational talent quarterback among nine starters, the Roughers enter the 2025 season with expectations to continue recent success after reaching the Class 6A-II state finals for a second straight season as Dale Condict takes the reins as head coach. Headlining the familiar faces to this year’s offense will be VYPE Top 100 receiver Jamie Beasley (6-2, 170, Sr.), who averaged 21 yards per catch and totaling 486 yards for seven touchdowns in 2024.  Marquis Chaplin (5-10, 185, Sr.) will give the Roughers a speedy talent running the football after averaging 12.4 yards per attempt last season while 3-year veteran Hunter Lanier (6-2, 295, Sr.) returns to anchor the front line. But don’t expect Condict’s team to make any excuses about proven talent on offense, as Muskogee will have new names with game time experience in the air raid style lineup. Kason Delgado (6-2, 190, Sr.) is the heir apparent at quarterback to engineer the fast paced offense after playing the past two seasons at Union where he was undefeated in four starts in 2024 following 10 starts at Edmond Santa Fe as a freshman.  After moving from Wagoner, Stylan McHenry (6-4, 185, Sr.) will also challenge for the quarterback start. “Both have their own skills as a signal caller and it’s a plus to have options with your offense,” said Condict. Muskogee’s receiver pool is loaded with game changer talent including Top 100 nominees Brady Scott (5-10, 165, Sr.) a Hilldale transfer who grabbed 46 receptions for 857 yard and ran for 337 yards to total 19 touchdowns joining forces with DaCaden Ford (5-9, 166, Sr.) who recorded 500 yards combined receiving and running with three scores in 2024 at Wagoner and Aven Goodlin (5-10, 160, Jr.) while Anthony McNac (6-2, 185, Jr.) gives a dual threat ability at H-back. Muskogee must retool the offensive line and will employ the size, strength and force of Devon Nero (6-3, 310, Sr.) joining JoJo Alexander (6-3, 265, Jr.) along with Wagoner transfer Hayden Von Holt (6-4, 250, Jr.) and Payden Armstrong (6-3, 320, Jr.) lining up with Lanier. “We want to go fast and be explosive offensively by getting the ball to our skilled athletes in space while at the same time control play on the front line and be productive running the ball,” said Condict. “The agility of those guys upfront will be a BIG factor to allow us to move the chains and put points on the scoreboard.”

DEFENSE

Embracing the belief that “defense wins championships” the new coach of the Roughers is eager to let his playmakers enforce their will against opponents as five members of last year’s defensive lineup are ready to control the flow of the game. Top 100 choice Kyron Cope (6-3, 230, Sr.) does more than pass the eye test with his aggressive style play where the Top 100 nominee made 36 solo stops including four sacks among his 64 tackles will crash from defensive edge while Hayden Von Holt is worthy of Top 100 recognition at defensive end after totaling 30 tackles for loss among his 50 tackles last season at Wagoner with reinforced pressure coming from Malachi Hopkins (5-11, 235, Sr.) while Jack Green (6-1, 265, Sr.) plugs the middle at nose guard. Top 100 pick Coda Barnoski (6-2, 215, Sr.) who totaled 110 tackles and Kaden Harken (6-2, 218, Sr.) who added 86 tackles including 42 solo stops return to the Roughers 3-4 alignment at linebacker joining Ayrius Parish (5-11, 180, Sr.) and Anthony McNac Jr. with Jakari Ashley (6-0, 210, So.), Cole McQueen (6-0, 195, Jr.) and Brevyn Duncan (5-10, 180, Jr.) adding depth. The ability to shutdown opponents’ passing attack will rest upon the speed and force of cornerbacks Decaden Ford, Brady Scott, Tre’Shaun Pouncil (5-10, 165, Jr.), Keanu James (5-11, 160, Jr.), Journey McJunkins (6-1, 175, Jr.) and Adrian Billingsley (6-0, 165, Sr.) while hard hitting Kenyon Goodson (6-0, 175, Sr.) who had 42 solo tackles among his 80 total stops will captain the secondary at safety alongside Goodlin, another of the Wagoner additions to the Muskogee roster. “The defense has a core group of returning playmakers and with added abilities of the other kids, it’s a group that has a chance to be special,” Condict said. “The standard has been set at Muskogee and we’re determined to continue that trend.”
