EUFAULA IRONHEADS
GIRLS
Coach: Jason Radomski
23-24 Record: 16-10
With three returning starting seniors on the floor for new coach Jason Radomski this year, the Lady Ironheads are hoping to find a way past the area tournament this year but their move to Class 4A this season will present some new problems. Eufaula will be led by Kate Pippenger (5-5) who may be better known for her prowess on the softball diamond, Maddie Ballard (5-5) and Jadence Efurd (5-10).
“Jadence is a three-year starter for us and has been a key piece to our teams that have gone 16-10 the past two seasons. She averaged six points and seven rebounds a game last year and will be key to how far we go this year,” said Radomski.
Several juniors will vie for starting spots this year as well as providing depth. They include Ariel Greenlee (6-0), Johna Bumgarner (5-8), Elaina Monroe (5-4) and Lauren Gray (5-6). In addition, Eufaula will be aided by a deep and athletic freshman class with players such as Hannah Needham (5-5), Olivia Hamby (6-0) and Kristee Thompson (6-0).
“Kristee and Olivia bring a lot of athleticism and perimeter play that will pose all kinds of matchup problems for opponents,” said Radomski. “They play year round on a very competitive travel team and have hit the ground running during the off-season leading up to their freshman year and are working hard to provide a role for us on this experienced team.”
How the Lady Ironheads adjust to new opponents and a new coach will be crucial to their success but Radomski is optimistic.
“We’ll have a lot of size, athleticism and depth this year for us to play fast on offense and pick up full court on defense every game.”
