Gore Pirates Cheer Team – Presented by Indian Capital Technology Center

Taylor Lewis is in her second year as the cheer coach at Gore High School. She says that she enjoys coaching this team because they have fun but they are also hard workers.

“These girls have been so much fun to coach,” Lewis said. “I have ten girls this year, but what we lack in numbers we make up for in hard work. At the end of the last season, I sat down with each captain to ask them what our goals for the 2024 season would be. After setting our season goals, they have worked day-in and day-out over the last several months to ensure we achieve each of them. They are consistently driven and eager to learn, which is what makes this program grow in the right direction year after year.”

Just like any other sports team, the Gore cheer team’s success is dependent on the team’s chemistry and ability to work well together.

“Our team’s biggest strength is they trust each other and have bought into one another,” coach Lewis said. “Their trustand confidence in one another has allowed us to build a strong foundation for our program. We always say “Do it for you, do it for me, do it for we.” Having trust in your teammates to do their job, allows each one of us to get things done the right way.

Snowy Rich is a senior co-captain on the team and she says that she likes the camaraderie amongst her team.

“I enjoy cheering for the fellowship, supporting the team, and being more involved in the community,” Rich said. “This team is truly a family. We support each other and encourage everyone in their up’s and down’s. I’ve never felt more at home than with this team.”

Another senior co-captain, Ricki Huckbay is proud to be able to help spread the school spirit and cheer on their teams to victory.

“I love the feeling of school spirit that comes with cheer for my school,” Huckbay said. “I like being able to support the athletes whether they are winning or losing. It feels like being their number one fan on the side cheering them along.”
