Gore’s Devon Mannon – Football Spotlight – Presented by Cross Telephone

For Devon Mannon, football at Gore High School is more than just a sport – it’s a family affair. As a sophomore who’s been playing since Pre-K, he’s grown up with the game as a constant part of his life. “Having the little kids look up to me,” is something that drives Devon as he takes on a leadership role within the team.

The home field holds a special place in his heart. “I like the field,” Devon said simply, but it’s the atmosphere and the sense of community that truly make it his favorite place to play. Being surrounded by teammates who feel like family makes each game that much more meaningful. “We are like family,” he explained, underscoring the strong bond that keeps the team united.

Devon credits much of his success to his parents: “My mom and dad, they support me no matter what.” Their unwavering encouragement pushes him to be his best, whether he’s playing running back, middle linebacker, or kicker – though he has dreams of playing wide receiver one day.

When it comes to teammates, Devon looks up to Brendon Keith. “He plays with a lot of heart, and he is always there to hype up the team,” Devon said, admiring Brendon’s energy and dedication. Off the field, Kaydin McCartney keeps everyone laughing, while Devon is known for his serious focus during games. “I am absolutely the loudest on the field,” he added, a true vocal leader for the team.

In addition to football, Devon stays active year-round, participating in wrestling, powerlifting, and track. His love for competition and teamwork spills over into these sports, as he continues to push himself to new heights.

Looking ahead, Devon’s sights are set on college and a promising career, though he’s still working out the specifics. For now, though, his focus is on helping his team succeed, especially when facing off against Central Sallisaw, their biggest rivals. With a strong work ethic and the support of his family and teammates, Devon Mannon is well on his way to leaving a lasting legacy at Gore High School.
