Stella Aldridge – Tahlequah
Since her childhood growing up in Tahlequah, Stella Aldridge has loved to dance. And, dance is something that continues to open doors to success as a three-year member of the RiverHawks pom squad at Northeastern State University.
“I began dance at age five with my first experience in pom happening as a middle school student and that continued through graduation from high school in 2021,” recalled Aldridge, co-captain of this year’s pom squad at NSU. “When I decided to attend NSU, I knew that I wanted to continue to dance and that includes being a part of the Game Day environment.”
Aldridge and her family of teammates on the pom squad all strive to create a high level of energy.
“At NSU, everyone comes to the games eager to create a rowdy and loud atmosphere of support for our teams,” said Aldridge. “The entertainment side of pom is where you can really ‘show it’ through our dance routines. That’s what makes it so much fun.”
On a fast-track academic schedule, Aldridge is on 4-year game plan to graduate in the spring of 2025 with her degree in biochemistry.
“My goal is to go to med school after college and eventually become a radiologist,” said Aldridge. “The science program at NSU is outstanding and it has partnered with my long-range goals.“
Defining herself as a strong-willed, caring and happy person, Aldridge explains her college experience at NSU as a win-win family relationship.
“I love to make sure others’ needs are always met including my pom squad teammates, as well as lab partners in my classes,” she said with a voice of commitment and determination. “It’s the same type of commitment that I’ve enjoyed as a student at NSU where the conveniences available to students, including flexible scheduling and online classes, have allowed me to manage my all of my activities while maintaining my academic achievements in a addition to working at a job at a dance studio.”
For Stella Aldridge, the NSU journey continues to open doors of opportunity.
“NSU is a great campus, with great professors and endless resources for help with your classes and life’s challenges.”
